About this file
This Request for Information (RFI) addresses fiber optic cable specifications for a Fisher House site preparation project at a Veterans Affairs facility. The RFI details precise requirements for three separate fiber optic cable installations: a 24-strand OS2 single mode cable for engineering use (approximately 2,200 feet), another 24-strand OS2 single mode cable for IRM use (approximately 2,400 feet), and an 8-strand OS2 single mode cable for fire department use (approximately 1,000 feet). All cables will be indoor/outdoor type and connected using standard RJ connectors to specific building patch panels. The project requires third-party resistance testing at the general contractor's expense, and clarifies technical specifications regarding existing communication vault cable configurations, emphasizing that current fiber optic cables are in use and cannot be spliced. The solicitation is associated with the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, specifically for site preparation work identified by solicitation number 36C24225Q0643.

RFI 2 revised response Drawing C-3.0 Note: states Adequate Slack to be provided after pull of the Four (4) Fiber Optic Cables to reach the Fisher House Building.
Drawing ES-1.0 Keyed Note # 7 states One (1) 4 strand single mode fiber.
Advise if it is one (1) four strand fiber cable or four (4) four strand fiber cables that will be installed from the existing communication vault to the Fisher House Pull Box. The fiber optic cable currently in the vault is an indoor/outdoor cable and not loose tube. All 4 strands are in use already and cannot be spliced. We require 3 cables to run from Fisher house through the conduit installed with this project. Cable 1 will be 24 strand OS2 single mode/ indoor/outdoor cable connected directly to building 2 patch panel for engineering use using standard RJ connectors (approximate length 2,200 feet). Cable 2 will be 24 strand OS2 single mode/ indoor/outdoor cable connected directly to building 3 patch panel for IRM use using standard RJ connectors (approximate length 2,400 feet). Cable 3 will be 8 strand OS2 single mode/ indoor/outdoor cable connected directly to building 29 patch panel for fire department use using standard RJ connectors (approximate length 1000 feet). Third party resistance testing at the GCs expense will be performed to ensure compliance.
RFI 3 revised response Provide additional information of the existing fiber optic cable-Manufacturer Part #, Loose Tube, Tight Buffered etc. that will be spliced to the new single mode cable. Refer to RFI #2 response.
