ANSWERS TO SUBMITTED QUESTIONS:
QUESTION #1:
Please provide quantities for the Dental Unit HPCs
ANSWER #1:
60 HPC’s per quarter.
QUESTION #2:
The Monthly Water Sampling Schedule spreadsheet references “Footnote SOP 1”. Where can this be found?
ANSWER #2:
It’s located on Updated Northport Water Safety Sampling Schedule 2024.
QUESTION #3:
There’s a mention of hemodialysis water in the scope but there’s no detail about the type or quantity of testing. Was it in the scope of this contract?
ANSWER #3:
Any hemodialysis testing needed will be added as an emergency sampling.
QUESTION #4:
Legionella is listed in the analyses on attachment E, but no testing seems to be indicated. Is there any in this contract?
ANSWER #4:
This will be intermittent testing as needed.
QUESTION #5:
C. Scope of Work 3. Mentions that “WQP samples at each entry point (post-treatment) must continue to be collected bi-weekly”. How many entry points are there?
ANSWER #5:
Two entry points.
QUESTION #6:
C. Scope of Work 3. Mentions a requirement to test “silica and orthophosphate if used”. For how many WAP/WQP samples is it required?
ANSWER #6:
None.
Currently we are not using silica and orthophosphate, but at any point in time Suffolk County Department of Health might mandate it for Northport VAMC to implement their use for water quality control.
QUESTION #7:
C. Scope of Work 3. Mentions that “Collect and analyze one water sample from each stripper tower”. How many stripper towers are there?
ANSWER #7:
Two stripper towers.
QUESTION #8:
C. Scope of Work 3. Mentions that “Well water samples are required to be obtained and tested monthly.” This seems to conflict with the Monthly Water Sampling Schedule spreadsheet which has no monthly testing requirement for wells. Could you clarify? If there are monthly samples, what are the required tests to be done?
ANSWER #8:
Typo and SOW changed. All wells are on a quarterly testing requirement.
QUESTION #9:
The Monthly Water Sampling Schedule spreadsheet requires monthly testing of cooling towers.
Could you provide the number of cooling towers this covers?
ANSWER #9:
4 cooling towers.
QUESTION #10:
Page 5 of 65 - Under the scope of work it states weekly site visit; however, based on reading the Northport Monthly Water Sampling Schedule as well as the Solicitation, we cannot find anything that would indicate the need for someone to be onsite weekly. Is there anything that anyone else can see that would require a weekly site visit?
ANSWER #10:
That is correct. While the schedule is broken up into bi-weekly blocks, it is practically not possible to visit all the sites in one day or even one week depending on the workload. Most likely, the visits will be broken up into more manageable weekly visits. If the vendor has the manpower to conduct all the testing in one week and then skip the next week, then we can adopt this sampling frequency as well.
QUESTION #11:
On the Northport Monthly Water Sampling Schedule, it shows under the Distribution Column B Cooling Towers Field ph, Residual Chlorine, HPC; however, it is not actually mentioned in the solicitation for completion during the 1st through 15th of the month. How many cooling towers are we talking about as there is no indication to this?
ANSWER #11:
There are 4 cooling towers at Northport VAMC.
Cooling towers are tested one a month (anytime during the month will suffice).
QUESTION #12:
On the Northport Monthly Water Sampling Schedule, the Dental Unit/SPS DI under column F, it talks about SPS DI Inlet Trap and SPS DI sink outlet (pH, free chlorine, hardness, conductivity, bacteria, endotoxins). How many are you referring to here as well?
ANSWER #12:
There is 1 SPS DI inlet and 1 SPS DI sink outlet.
QUESTION #13:
Regarding the Radionuclides testing, this would only need to be performed on Well 2R when they get it in operation - all other wells have been tested and are good for 9 years after testing, and the 1st well outside of 2R testing date is 2029.
ANSWER #13:
That is correct.
QUESTION #14:
What does the following acronym stand for: WAP? Can you clarify what this is referencing: 2 WAP samples from each of 2 distribution sampling sites (4 total) and WQP samples at each entry point (post-treatment) must continue to be collected bi-weekly. The samples are to be analyzed for pH, alkalinity, calcium, conductivity, temperature plus (silica and orthophosphate if used)-that’s a typo.
ANSWER #14:
That is a typo. WAT should read WQP.
QUESTION #15:
We found this language in the solicitation: Collect and analyze one water sample for perchlorate from Well numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 once a year in June. However, we don't see perchlorate as one of the listed tests on Exhibit E?
ANSWER #15:
Northport is exempt from perchlorate sampling for 2024. Well #2R will need a perchlorate test if it goes back into service. Perchlorate testing may change for 2025 depending on Suffolk County DOH requirements.
