About this file
This document is a site visit summary and Request for Information (RFI) responses documenting interior wayfinding signage requirements for a VA medical facility.
The contract involves fabrication and installation of comprehensive interior wayfinding signage across multiple floors of a VA facility. Key products required include: restroom identification signs (11 3/8" H x 9 1/8" W) matching existing styles across basement through sixth floor locations; stair identification signs (matching dimensions) at each stairwell entrance; overhead check-in signs for various departments and services; directional subdirectory signs at all intersections identifying departments, restrooms, named exits, and elevators; and specialized signs for the Wall of Valor, main elevators, and service elevators. All signs must feature replaceable inserts. RFI responses clarify that mounting shall be wall-mounted, ceiling-mounted, or a combination based on expert vendor recommendation for optimal visibility and consistency. For CLINs with unspecified dimensions, bidders may use VA PG-18-10 as the pricing basis, subject to final VA approval post-award. Bidders should assume one existing sign removal per new sign installed, with additional removals priced separately as needed based on design. One concept design and 3D rendering is required per sign type. Installation must occur after-hours between 4:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. (prep beginning at 3:30 p.m.) due to concrete walls requiring drilling. All signs must be screwed or hung; double-sided tape is prohibited. Reference photos of existing restroom and stair signs are provided to establish matching style standards.
