Questions and Answers Solicitation No. 36C24124B0005

Bldg. #78 Comp & Pen Roof Top Unit Replacement VA Bedford

1. Requesting information regarding the material upon which the current unit rests. Is it concrete, wood or something else? Please advise.

Answer: Composite Metal Deck with 6” of concrete

2. Will Temporary heating / cooling be required for this project?

Answer: Yes, for cooling. Heat is from VAV boxes and will require air flow through ducting.

2rv1. Q&A responded that temporary airflow is needed for heating and for temp cooling. If the space is VAV and relies on tempered air which would be reheated (typically ~55 degrees) is a temporary unit capable of providing this tempered air required to be temporarily ducted to the distribution?

Answer: It would need to be sized to have the same capabilities as the existing RTU.

3. Can Crane work be scheduled after normal work hours?

Answer: Yes, provided it does not impact patient access. It will require two week notice for scheduling and prior approval.

4. Will a controls contractor be required for the site?

Answer: Yes

5. Who is the ATC vendor? Johnson Controls, Seimans, Schneider, BCM?

Answer: Johnson Controls and Trane.

5rv1. Q&A # 5 responded that JCI and Trane are control vendors in the building. Our understanding is that B78 has undergone control retrofit to convert to a Trane DDC system and has integrated many existing JCI controllers. Please advise if the unit and associated VAV’s are on Trane controls or JCI and if any controls need to be replaced or if they are to be reused.

Answer: The JCI controls are still in place and the Trane system is connected to that and communicates with the front end.

6. Can VA Provide the existing manufacturer and model of the unit to be replace?

Answer: Carrier Model 50FY-074BHA500EA Serial 3499f45363

7. SOW states to “resize for new unit based on” and does not state what to base the sizing of the new unit. Please confirm how new unit is to be sized.

Answer: The unit should not need to be sized differently as long as it has the same capacity as the original unit.

8. Please confirm new ductwork is only needed as necessary to tie into existing duct.

Answer: Yes, that is correct.
