User needs training to refresh knowledge of the material, content, or concepts;
minor new conceptual functions may exist in a moderate complexity application.
Material is simple in nature or self-evident
Assessment of user familiarity.
Generally, if the technology contains simple or self-evident information then the complexity is significantly lower.
If the user needs training to understand new and/or difficult concepts the complexity is higher.
Target Demographic
A provider facing technology that has connections to multiple VA data sources or requires data entry into VA systems using difficult medical concepts or sub-specialties.

The complexity raises with provider facing technologies, the10ommunicatio
Metric Complexity Level Comments High Moderate Low technology that has a connection to a single VA data source, e.g.
view only of patient information, no data entry into VA systems, and potential data entry into a patient generated database.
n of difficult medical concepts, and/or connections to VA systems and data sources.
Patient Risk The technology enables data entry into VA systems and/or suggests a medical intervention.
