About this file
This Addendum No. 1 is issued by Hinds Community College for the Federal Aid Project STP-0211-00(015) LPA 107143/701000, involving pedestrian and sidewalk improvements. The addendum includes updates to the project documents such as replacing the table of contents, adding pre-bid meeting minutes and Q&A, replacing specific special provisions and plan sheets, and modifying Section 905 bid sheets. The project involves improvements to the Hinds Community College campus in Raymond, Mississippi, with work to be performed along Hinds Boulevard, East Main Street, and Bill Oakes Drive. The contract time is set at 105 working days, and the project includes various construction activities such as removing existing pavement, installing new sidewalks, curbs, lighting, and traffic control measures.
The bid includes specific line items for different construction elements, with a 5% Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goal. The project will require various materials and installations, including concrete sidewalks, detectable warning panels, lighting assemblies (LED bollards and area lights), electrical work, and traffic control items. There are two add-option items: one for LED area lights and another for LED bollards, which the Local Public Agency (LPA) will decide whether to include after bid opening. The project is funded through a federal aid program, and bidders must submit a bid bond or certified check for 5% of the total bid. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, with the ability to adjust certain items like the LED bollards and area lights after bid evaluation.

STANDARD GLOSS COLORS
NOTE: Due to the inherent nature of metal castings, gloss powdercoats are not offered for cast components.
PRETREATMENT
For improved performance, all aluminum castings go through an environmentally friendly pretreatment process. This pretreatment increases the adhesion of the powdercoat finish and creates a barrier that is highly resistant to environmental corrosion without the use of hazardous ingredients.
FORMS+SURFACES POWDERCOAT FINISHES
Our powdercoat finishes have been specially formulated with dirt-repelling properties and for significantly prolonged gloss retention, which decreases the frequency of cleaning and maintenance. For long-term performance, our powdercoat finishes have high resistance to environmental factors such as UV rays and humidity, industrial pollution, and other atmospheric components.

Sleek in stainless steel, the Light Column Bollard integrates into a wide range of settings and offers numerous design possibilities. Bollard columns are available in 5" or 6" diameters. Illumination options include LED or linear fluorescent lamps and multiple ways to direct light: no shield for symmetrical lighting, or 180° and 360° shields in standard or custom designs. Non-illuminated and security core variations, and matching Light Column Pathway Bollards and Light Column Pedestrian Lighting make it easy to create a cohesive look across functionalities.
MATERIAL & CONSTRUCTION DETAILS
CONFIGURATIONS MATERIALS & FINISHES FLUORESCENT LAMPS & BALLASTS
• Light Column Bollards are available in two sizes. Series 500 columns use 5" (127 mm) diameter tubular stainless steel; Series 600 columns use 6" (152 mm) diameter tubular stainless steel.

ILLUMINATED BOLLARDS - CONTINUED
NOMINAL DIMENSIONS - EMBEDDED SECURITY CORE
OPTIONAL SECURITY CORE
Site security is a major concern in today’s unpredictable world. Public and private buildings, government facilities, campuses and public parks are all susceptible to accidental, as well as deliberate vehicle infringement. Design professionals, city planners, facilities managers and engineers must now be increasingly sensitive to the safety and security requirements of public and private spaces. Security bollards placed at ingress points are an excellent way to guard against vehicle infringement while still allowing pedestrian access.
Until recently, security bollards have frequently taken the form of generic pipes or cylinders that offer little in the way of design or lighting functionality.
Now, an optional enhancement to our Light Column Bollards provides a solution that blends security, performance and style. By adding a pre-engineered security core to our Series 600 design, we're able to respond to the needs of today's public spaces with a beautiful illuminated bollard that meets stringent high-impact crash requirements.
Forms+Surfaces’ security bollards have been tested using a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) by a professional engineering consultant. FEA is a software-based tool commonly used in the automotive industry and used extensively for crash test simulations. Tests were performed using our bollards set in permanent concrete footings spaced 42" apart (to assure a minimum of two bollards being hit) and struck by a vehicle at a 90 degree impact. The impact simulation found the bollards to be successful in stopping a 5,500 lb. vehicle traveling at a minimum test velocity of 40 mph.
In addition to our illuminated security bollards, we can also provide non-illuminated options. Refer to page 6 for details. Please contact us to discuss design and installation considerations for Light Column Bollards with security cores.
