About this file
This document is a detailed specification file from the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) for procuring two used transport trucks. The specification outlines comprehensive requirements for tandem axle day cab trucks with a minimum 52,000 GVWR, specifying that the cab and chassis must be from 2009 or newer with less than 300,000 miles. The trucks must be delivered FOB Helena, Montana, and meet extensive technical specifications covering aspects such as cab configuration, paint condition, interior features, instrumentation, safety equipment, engine performance, braking systems, transmission, axle ratings, and electrical systems.
The specification does not provide explicit pricing details or funding sources, but emphasizes rigorous technical standards for the vehicles. Key technical requirements include a minimum 11L engine with 400 SAE net horsepower, 10-speed manual transmission, air brakes, air ride suspension, front axle capacity of 12,000 pounds, rear tandem drive axles with 40,000-pound capacity, and specific features like air conditioning, tilt steering, dual mirrors, and electric engine block heater. The trucks must have radial tires with approximately 50% tread and meet stringent condition and performance criteria to qualify for the procurement.
