City of Dallas Specifications & Scope of Work
Request For Proposals (RFP)
Project Title: Digital Web-based Wayfinding Mobile Application
Buyer Solicitation Number: B2300027 http://www.dallascitynews.net/
Scope of Work
I. Introduction, Purpose and Intent
Dallas Love Field (DAL) is a large airport serving millions of passengers and supporting a diverse mix of domestic travelers. DAL is committed to enhancing passenger experience using accessible and reliable technology solutions that improve navigation throughout the airport. As the airport continues to modernize its facilities, there is a need for a Digital web-based wayfinding application that enables passengers to efficiently navigate through the terminal and other public access environments at the airport using mobile devices. This wayfinding system would incorporate an integrated Artificial Intelligence model to identify customer patterns and behavior allowing Dallas Love Field Airport to deliver expanded customer support, enhanced services and strategic digital retail suggestions to customers as they move through the airport.
The intent is to establish a 2-year contract with two, 1 year renewal options to design, implement, host and maintain, a Digital web-based Wayfinding mobile application to guide passengers through the public and commercial areas of Dallas Love Field Airport. It will enhance accessibility and inclusivity by providing support for persons with disabilities and those requiring personalized navigational assistance. Additionally, this service can also be used by authorized contractors to navigate in designated public areas such as contractor parking. This offers our passengers and the public an immersive experience by providing real time, accurate location information for airport services, amenities and operational functions through dynamic maps. This system should utilize GPS Navigation augmented by an internal GIS, ESRI, as built drawings. The wayfinding application will support seamless passenger movement and provide personalized assistance by integrating links to flight information and other airport services, contributing to an improved travel experience.
Advantages & Benefits of a Wayfinding System
Empowering Passengers to be able to navigate the airport without necessarily needing the assistance of Department of Aviation (DOA) staff or contractors, this represents a reduction in staff manhours allocated to those functions which improves the efficiency of our staff. Provide customers with a digital assistant that frees up DOA staff particularly in the terminal operations areas and allows our paid-staff to focus more directly on operations and the overall customer services at Dallas Love Field.
Improvements to Safety and Security for travelers by providing up-to-date alerts in real time as well as emergency procedures and even assist staff with crowd management.
Should be able to allow DOA to leverage Data-Driven Signage and Technology Information Systems allowing customers and passengers to submit questions and assist with the navigation of Terminal and parking areas using the convergence of AI, data and passenger intent to provide relevant information throughout their journey.
Predictive Passenger Models: A data driven, AI assisted system could inform the passenger proactively of flight information such as delays, changes or cancellations. Even changes in gate and baggage numbers combined with TSA wait times and personalized system recommendation would positively augment the customer experience at DAL.
Increase in Concession Utilization because the passenger/customer is able to efficiently locate retail, food, amenities and services., An AI centric system could allow DAL to suggest exclusive deals to restaurants and retail stores by offering tailored recommendations specific to each passenger behavior.
