About this file

The document is a Request for Bid (RFB) issued by the City of Yuma's Procurement Division, specifically for Greens Rye Grass Seed Varieties under reference number RFB-26-064 in August 2025. The RFB seeks multiple varieties of specialized grass seeds for sports turf, golf courses, and seasonal overseeding, including Silver Sport Seed, Black Pearl Rye Grass, Dark Matter Perennial Ryegrass Seed, Salinas II Perennial Ryegrass Seed, and POA Trivialis PT Cruser Grass Seed. The specifications outline detailed performance characteristics for each grass variety, emphasizing qualities such as fast establishment, dense uniform turf, disease resistance, color vibrancy, and adaptability to various climatic conditions.

The document does not include specific pricing details, budget allocations, or funding sources. Instead, it focuses on technical specifications that set minimum standards for grass seed varieties, with an explicit statement that references to specific makes and models are intended to indicate quality and performance standards rather than restrict competition. The grass seeds are designed for various applications, including overseeding dormant Bermuda grass, handling high-traffic areas, performing in both northern and southern climates, and providing excellent turf coverage with rapid germination and recovery capabilities.

1.1. Silver Sport Seed must be top-tier perennial ryegrass (Lolium perennial), specifically designed for sport turf and gold courses. Fast establishment, germinates quickly and forms a dense uniform turf. High traffic tolerance, built to withstand heavy use and recovers rapidly.

Shade tolerance performs well even in low light conditions. Dark green color offers a rich vibrant appearance with fine leaf texture. Strong resistance to disease like gray leaf spot and crown rust. High density and maintains a thick sward that resists weed invasion and wear.

Suitable for both northern and southern seasonal overseeding.

1.2. Black Pearl Rye Grass – Ominous Grass Seed. Very dark green color, fine leaf texture, creates a smooth, dense turf ideal for golf courses and fairways. Germinates quickly with strong seeding vigor, great for overseeding and renovations. High turf density and maintains excellent coverage and visual appeal even under wear and climatic stress. Easly transitions to blend seamlessly with warm season grasses like Bermudagrass during seasonal changes.

Excellent seeding vigor and aggressive growth habit make it ideal for quick turf coverage. Fine leaf texture and high density creating a smooth, carpet like turf with uniform appearance and superior movability. Wear and traffic tolerance. Built to handle heavy use, perfect for golf courses. Maintains color and density through colder months, making it a top choice for overseeding dormant Bermuda grass. Suitable for permanent turf.

1.4. Salinas ll Perennial Ryegrass Seed (Lolium Perennial). Dark green color with a very fine glade width, offering a smooth, dense turf. Excellent turf performance with a quick establishment and high wear tolerance. Good, tolerance to saline soils, making it ideal for regions with high salt contents, such as parts of Arizona. Suitable for fall overseeding programs in warm season turf areas and arid climates where irrigation is available. Germinates rapidly within 7 to 10 days and recovers quickly from wear and stress. Seeding rate typically

4.5 to 16 pounds per 1,000 square feet for overseeding depending on conditions.
