About this file
This is a Minimum Insurance Requirements document issued by Harris Health, a Texas-based healthcare organization, establishing mandatory insurance coverage standards for contractors engaged in projects with the agency. The document outlines comprehensive insurance requirements that scale based on project value, ranging from projects under $25 million to those exceeding $100 million. Contractors must maintain multiple insurance coverage types including Workers' Compensation, Commercial General Liability, Automobile Liability, Umbrella/Excess Liability, and Professional/Errors & Omissions Liability where applicable. All insurance must be provided by companies licensed in Texas with an A.M. Best rating of at least A-VII, and contractors must furnish evidence of coverage in the form of unaltered insurance certificates prior to contract execution.
For the specific Chilled Water Heat Exchanger Plate Refurbishment and System Upgrades project at Ben Taub Hospital with an estimated budget of $2.1 million, the contractor must maintain Commercial General Liability coverage with a $2 million general aggregate and $1 million per occurrence limit, $1 million Automobile Liability coverage, statutory Workers' Compensation with $1 million Employers' Liability limits, and $1 million Umbrella Liability coverage. Harris Health must be named as an additional insured on General Liability, Automobile, and Umbrella Liability policies, with Products and Completed Operations insurance maintained for a minimum of five years following final payment. Contractors are required to provide 30 days' written notice prior to any policy cancellation, material change, or non-renewal, and failure to maintain required coverage may result in contract termination at Harris Health's sole discretion.
