About this file

This document is a Brand Name Justification form from the Department of the Navy's Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific (SWFPAC) seeking to procure seven Cooper carrier bearing assemblies for Gladding Hearn 64-foot Patrol Boats. The specialized components are critical for conducting two propulsion drive shafts through a water-tight bulkhead to jet drives, and are unique to the boat's proprietary design. Market research confirmed that only Cooper can provide these exact-design engineered bearing assemblies, which are essential to prevent propulsion system failure in a DX-Rated Program approved by the Secretary of Defense. The requirement will be posted on SAM.gov to solicit potential offers, with the total estimated dollar value redacted in the document. The procurement is justified under FAR 8.405-6(b) for Brand Name items, and SWFPAC will continue monitoring the marketplace for alternative options.
