About this file
This is a Scope of Work document for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) for the manufacturing, delivery, and installation of ten (10) high-quality Retail Merchandising Units (RMUs) and accessories. Each RMU consists of a steel base with four drawers and two doors, a cash wrap station, a commercial-grade metal chair, two identical curtain boxes, and a roof assembly featuring a valance with LED lighting, security tracks and carriers, cross beams with additional LED lights, and a frosted acrylic panel. The units require specific materials including real-wood veneer on vertical surfaces, solid surface countertops with drop edges, powder-coated finishes in white (RAL 9003) and grey (RAL 7042), and coil fabric curtains procured from Cascade Architectural. A critical component is the security system utilizing overhead double tracks, retractable anchors, and flexible steel cables to secure the coil fabric curtains when deployed after operating hours. The response must include detailed installation and delivery plans addressing the logistical challenge of transporting the RMUs through fixed-height and fixed-width doors, with installation occurring between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am. Additionally, respondents must provide two secondary fixture packages (one with slat grid and one with slatwall pedestals, each package consisting of six standard and three slotted pedestals).
Respondents must submit itemized pricing for all ten RMUs including delivery and installation, four sets of secondary fixture packages (two configurations), bar-height commercial-grade metal chairs with after-hours security provisions, a comprehensive project schedule covering engineering through installation, manufacturer warranty statements, maintenance manuals with approved cleaning chemicals, and replacement parts lists with supplier information. Shop drawings and material boards require approval before production commences, and complete as-built drawings must be provided prior to installation. The solicitation emphasizes that respondents bear full responsibility for verifying door dimensions along the delivery path, as the RMUs may require partial assembly and reassembly to navigate through doors with limiting dimensions (AS 2: 82" wide x 80" tall landside; AS 4: 81.5" wide x 80" tall). No specific response date, award date, or contract term information is provided in this document, though participation is voluntary and the Aviation Authority will not reimburse preparation costs or pay for the use of submitted information.

B All of the vertical exterior metal surfaces on the cash wrap shall receive the same real-wood-veneer with adhesive backing as is required for the base. The grain of the veneer shall be oriented vertically.
III Curtain Box
The RMU includes two identical curtain boxes. They are connected to the exterior of the base on diagonally opposing sides of its long axis. The curtain boxes perform the following essential functions as part of the RMU structure:
• structural support of the roof,
• serve as a storage receptacle for the coil fabric curtains when they are not in use,
• support inward facing slatwall for merchandising,
• support the outward facing laser cut decorative panels,
• support an outward facing acrylic tenant sign holder,
• serve as a chase for electrical wiring from the base to the roof structure.
The interior of the curtain box must be at least eight inches wide to provide sufficient clearance for the security system components.
A Metal
1 Each curtain box shall be fabricated from fourteen-gauge (or equivalent) steel with all surfaces powder coated.
2 Each curtain box shall be equipped with a hinged door. The door allows access to the coil fabric from the curtain box’s interior so that it can be deployed after operating hours. It is acceptable for the door to remain open when the coil fabric is deployed.
3 Each curtain box must be rigidly secured to the structural components (sheet metal) in the base.
4 Each curtain box must be rigidly secured to structural components in the roof.
5 A metal hasp located on the surface opposite the door approximately midway between the floor and roof that is used to lock the coil fabric curtain in place.
1 The outward facing surface of the curtain box that is parallel to the long axis of the RMU shall be adorned with the same real-wood-veneer used on the base.
The grain of the veneer shall be oriented vertically.
C Laser Cut Panel
1 A grey powder-coated (Tiger Drylac RAL 7042) decorative laser-cut panel shall be mounted to the outward facing surface of the curtain box that is parallel to the long axis of the RMU. This panel will be the outermost component on the curtain box sandwiching the real-wood-veneer between itself and the sheet metal enclosure. Pucks one half inch in diameter will hold the panel one half inch away from the surface of the curtain box.
D Toe Kick
1 The bottom four inches of the curtain box’s circumferential exterior shall be protected by an applied metal toe-kick. The exterior surface of the toe-kick shall be powder coated with RAL 7042.
E Electrical Components
1 All electrical components in the curtain box shall be U.L. listed, bear the U.L.
label or be labeled or listed with an accepted, nationally recognized Electrical Testing agency.
2 Electric power to the roof shall be delivered by wiring from the distribution panel in the base through the curtain boxes to the appropriate connections in the roof.
F Slatwall
1 The inside vertical surface of the curtain box shall receive a one-inch-on-center white metal slatwall fixture that should be approximately forty-four inches tall beginning approximately fifteen inches from the top of the solid surface on the base.
G Tenant Sign
The tenant sign is actually a sign holder. It consists of two mating pieces of clear acrylic that sandwich a printed sign within its interior. It is secured to the curtain box by means of one-half inch pucks. Each piece of the acrylic that comprises the sign holder must be at least one eighth of an inch thick.
IV Valance
All components in the valance shall be fabricated from fourteen-gauge steel or its equivalent in Aluminum with all surfaces powder coated.
The vertical outside facing surface of the valance shall be adorned with the same real-wood-veneer used on the base. The grain of the veneer shall be oriented vertically.

The valance shall be equipped with ten flush mounted three-inch LED lights oriented downwards to illuminate the base and the merchandise that will be displayed on it. All components in the valance must be U.L. listed, bear the U.L.
Testing Agency.
V Security System
The security system is comprised of aluminum tracks (located within the valance), carriers with hooks that ride on the tracks, coil fabric (steel), and provisions to secure the coil fabric to anchors on the base, and the curtain boxes (when the curtains are deployed). The coil fabric should extend at least to the bottom of the toe kick or slightly below it.
The system envisioned differs from standard configurations contemplated by the manufacturer in that the components referenced above are normally used together with a colinear set of tracks that secure and guide the bottom edge of the coil fabric either to the anchor point, or back to the curtain box enclosure.
For this design no tracks will be used to secure the bottom of the coil fabric. Instead, the coil fabric is secured to retractable anchors affixed to the bottom of the base by means of a highly flexible steel cable (two cables are required per RMU). The cables must be equipped with loop terminations (one on each end) that are locked to anchors on the curtain boxes with padlocks.
Respondents to this Solicitation must ensure that the security cables described above are long enough and flexible enough so that the merchant’s employees can easily deploy them regardless of strength, manual dexterity, and coordination. Respondents should include in their response at least two (per RMU), reuseable bags with drawstrings in which the security cables may be stored when not in use.
The layout of the tracks within the valance is described below. Drawings from the vendor, of parts that may be required to complete the security system may be found in Appendix C. Prospective respondents are encouraged to consult with the vendor, see Appendix B to ensure that their layout and component selection is consistent with the vendor’s design rules and best practices. Particular attention should be paid to the tolerance described below:
Deviation in the alignment between the centerline of track components is limited to five degrees for proper functionality.
A Tracks
The security system must employ the overhead double track configuration as shown below.
Figure 4
The tracks must be centered in the channel in the valance as shown in Figures 5 and 6
Figure 5
Figure 6
When the security system is in use, the merchant will open the door on the curtain box to access the coil fabric inside. The fabric, riding on carriers in the overhead track system, will be pulled towards the opposite curtain box creating a metal fabric barrier preventing access to the RMU and its contents from the outside. See Figure 7 below for direction of travel of the coil fabric curtains.
Figure 7
B Retractable Anchors
The base shall be provisioned with retractable anchors. To deploy these anchors (during non-operating hours), the merchant will slide them out from under the base where they will be used to lock the coil fabric in place. During operating hours, the merchant will slide the anchors back into their housings under the base. A concept drawing showing the anchors in both the deployed and retracted positions is shown below in Figure 8.
Figure 8
The anchors (deployed), coil fabric, and security cable are shown below in Figure 9.
Figure 9
The bottom of the coil fabric curtain shall be provisioned with metal rings that align with the retractable anchors when the system is deployed. A flexible steel cable will be threaded, by the merchant, through each pair of rings and anchors and locked in place at the ends with a padlock as shown below in Figure 10.
Figure 10
Each of the curtain boxes will be equipped with a hasp on the surface opposite the curtain box door. The vertical end of the coil fabric will be provisioned with a metal ring that will be locked to the hasp when the coil fabric curtain is deployed. See Figure 11
Figure 11
Respondents to this Solicitation must include a design solution for the security system that meets the following criteria:
• a means by which the ends of the coil fabric may be secured to both the base and the curtain box that cannot be defeated by persons on the air side of security (and are therefore without tools),
• requires a minimum of locks to secure each section of coil fabric to its dedicated anchor,
• anchor hardware mounted to structural components of the base to secure the coil fabric. This hardware should be retractable and therefore out of sight during operating hours (when the security system is not in use),
• minimizes the distance between the coil fabric and the outward facing vertical surface of the RMU base.
VI Cross Beams
The roof assembly includes five cross beams that are perpendicular to the long axis of the RMU and span the distance between the inside vertical surfaces of the valance.
The crossbeams shall be fabricated from fourteen-gauge steel or its equivalent in Aluminum with all surfaces powder coated.
B Electrical
Three flush mounted three-inch LED lights must be affixed to the bottom, downward facing surface, of each crossbeam (with their output directed downwards towards the base). They should be spaced equidistantly from each other with one light close to each end of the crossbeam and one in the center. All electrical components used in the crossbeam must be U.L. listed, bear the U.L.
Testing agency.
VII Frosted Acrylic Panel
The top of the roof assembly shall include a puck mounted piece of frosted acrylic.
Provisions for this component must include:
• outside dimensions identical to those of the valance,
• stand-offs equally spaced around the centerline of the valance in sufficient number to prevent the panel from sagging,
• a pattern of square holes similar to what is shown in Figure 12 below.
The cutout pattern shown below in Figure 12 is not to scale. The square holes in the panel should not be more than four inches on each side. It is required that the holes be sufficient in number to remove seventy percent of the material in the panel.
Figure 12 Frosted Acrylic Panel
VIII Secondary Fixture Package
Two secondary fixture packages must be included as part of a response to this Solicitation. The first, package A, as shown below in Figure 13, is a combination of pedestals and slat grid. The second, package B, is a similar combination of pedestals and slatwall, see Figure 14. Dimensions for the various components are shown in Appendix A.
The pedestals may be fabricated from:
• powder coated metal,
• solid surface material,
• or solid-core laminate on a substrate.
The components in secondary fixture package A must include:
• six pedestals that are 8” x 12” x 24”,
• three pedestals slotted in the center to hold slat grid that are 8” x 14” x 24”,
• a set of two slat grid panels separated by an opaque sheet for each of the three slotted pedestals (see above).
The components in secondary fixture package B must include:
• six pedestals that are 8” x 12” x 24”,
• three pedestals slotted in the center to hold slat grid that are 8” x 14” x 24”,
• a set of double sided one-inch-on-center metal slatwall panels.

IX Installation and Ingress
Contractor’s response to this Solicitation must include a detailed plan for the delivery and installation of the RMUs.
An essential component of this plan should explain how the RMUs will transit from the dock at the airport through the fixed height and width limited doors that will be encountered as they make their way to their final destination. It is understood that the path to the point of operation is circuitous and should be carefully studied as part of the contractor’s design process.
At no time during the delivery or installation process should the RMU’s be moved on their casters on any surface but the airside interior floor.
Installation must occur between the hours of 10:00 pm and 6:00 am
It is the responsibility of each contractor to know the width and height of each door that is on the delivery path. It may be necessary for the RMUs to be delivered as partially assembled with the full and final assembly taking place once they have passed all potential size limiting doors. In such cases, the response to the Solicitation should include a detailed operational description of this plan including time, personnel requirements, etc.
The airport authority instructs respondents responding to the Solicitation to pay particular attention to:
• the doors leading to AS 2 whose landside dimensions are 82” wide x 80” tall and airside dimensions are 83” x 87”. Note that the push bars stick out 4” on each door possibly limiting the width to 75” and,
• the doors leading to AS 4 whose landside dimensions are 81.5” wide x 80” tall and airside dimensions are 81.5” wide x 80” tall with door bars that stick out 3.5” on limiting width to 74.5”.
It is recommended that respondents verify all the dimensions of all doors that will be encountered for themselves.
X Response Requirements
A complete response to this Solicitation must include:
• pricing for ten RMUs including delivery and installation,
• pricing for four each of the two secondary fixture packages (one with slat grid, one with slat wall),
• a bar height commercial grade metal chair with provisions to secure it after hours,
• pricing should be itemized by line item,
• a complete schedule for all phases of the project including engineering, production, delivery and installation,
• a clear statement of the manufacturer’s warranty,
• a manual for maintenance of the RMU’s including a list of approved chemicals for cleaning the various surfaces of the RMU,
• a list of replacement parts and their sources.
The contractor must provide shop drawings and material boards for approval prior to commencement of production, and a full set of as-built drawings prior to installation.
