About this file

This is a Frequently Asked Questions document prepared by the Macon-Bibb County Engineering Department in Georgia for the 26-041-LH LMIG 2026 Projects bidding opportunity. The project involves road milling and repaving work within Macon-Bibb County, with work hours restricted to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, unless special approval is granted for night work on downtown streets. Key project specifications include milling and paving through side road intersections at curb radii, patching operations to a maximum depth of four inches to remove cracking, placement of 12.55mm asphalt at 1.50 inches depth, and clipping and removal of grass shoulders from the site. Advanced warning signs may be placed on tripods or post-mounted, and a shuttle buggy is permitted but not required during asphalt placement. The sealed bid deadline is noon on Thursday, April 23, 2026, with public bid opening scheduled for 2 p.m. the same day. A non-mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, with a question submission deadline of Friday, April 3, 2026, at 3 p.m. Eastern time.

The document addresses operational clarifications and technical specifications for contractor bidding and performance. Final repaving must be completed within one day of milling work, and milled surfaces cannot remain without finished asphalt longer than this timeframe. Asphalt compaction testing is not required to be submitted to Macon-Bibb County. Patching areas must be at least one lane width, with contractors using their judgment to determine patch requirements. Driveway paving is excluded from the project scope. Both manhole and water valve adjustments and risers are bid items, with field determination to occur regarding which method will be used. All clipped shoulder material must be removed from the site. Bid documents are available through the Georgia Procurement Registry website and the Macon-Bibb County Procurement Page, with inquiries directed to the Procurement Department at (478) 803-0550 or Lhardwick@maconbibb.us.
