About this file

This document is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) file for a road resurfacing project in Macon-Bibb County, covering detailed specifications for a comprehensive road milling and paving contract. The project involves full-width milling of roads from lip of curb to lip of curb (or road edge to road edge for roads without curb and gutter), with milling depths and patching operations specified. Work hours are set for 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential approval for night work on downtown streets. The project includes milling and repaving roads, with specific requirements for side road intersections, asphalt mix types (12.5mm and 9.5mm), and asphalt layer depths (1.5" on Fulton Mill Road, 1.25" on other roads).

Additional project details include provisions for advanced warning signs, shoulder clipping and material removal, and manhole and water valve adjustments. Contractors are required to complete final repaving within one day of milling, use Type 1 9.5mm asphalt, and patch areas as needed with a matching paving mix. No driveway paving is included, and compaction tests are not required to be submitted to Macon-Bibb County. A shuttle buggy is allowed but not mandatory for placing 12.5mm asphalt. The contractor's responsibilities are limited to road surface preparation, milling, paving, and shoulder material removal, with no additional requirements for shoulder building or signage.
