About this file

This is Addendum #2 to the Request for Proposal issued by Cheshire Public Schools for the Fire Alarm System Upgrade at Cheshire High School located at 525 South Main Street, Cheshire, Connecticut. The addendum, issued on February 26, 2026, modifies the original contract documents dated October 24, 2025, and requires all proposers to acknowledge receipt to avoid disqualification. Sealed proposals are due March 6, 2026 at 2:00 PM EST, with public opening and reading of proposals immediately following at the Office of School District Operations, Room 12. A mandatory site visit was scheduled for Monday, February 16, 2026 at 9:00 AM at the school's main entrance. The contract includes installation of a microprocessor-based, addressable fire detection and alarm system with voice evacuation capabilities, elevator recall functionality, and emergency radio communications. The proposal form incorporates three allowances: Ceiling Tiles ($45,000), Painting and Patching ($50,000), and Core Boring ($25,000). An alternate bid option for a Fire Alarm Graphic Annunciator Panel (from Addendum #1) must be specified as either an add or deduct to the base installation cost. The contractor must include twelve months of maintenance service from substantial completion with monthly preventive maintenance visits and 24-hour emergency response capability.

Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check or proposal bond equal to ten percent (10%) of the proposal amount, issued by a company licensed in Connecticut with at least an "A-" VIII policyholders rating. The proposal form requires disclosure of exceptions to RFP requirements, debarment status on the Connecticut Debarment List, occupational safety and health violations, arbitration or litigation history within the past ten years, criminal proceedings, and ethics violations related to public projects. No specific contract award amount or budget is stated in the addendum. The anticipated work hours are 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM with limited owner staff coverage; building access and two master keys will be provided to the successful contractor. Key clarifications address that the greenhouse will remain in place with contractors responsible for demolishing only fire alarm devices within it, electrical connections must be made to panelboard LPB-A rather than LPB-C at three locations, and the Emergency Radio Communications Enhancement System subsection has been removed from the base bid. The owner bears costs for elevator vendor, fire protection vendor, and BMS vendor services, though the contractor is responsible for all coordination with these vendors. Connecticut prevailing wage requirements apply to all on-site workers.
