About this file

This is an addendum to a structured cabling and technology installation project for Southwest Elementary School in Howell Public Schools, issued by Wright Hunter Technology Advisors on February 19, 2026. The project, designated 25-SWES-SCS-01, involves the installation of comprehensive network infrastructure including cat6/cat6a cabling, patch panels, termination components, wall plates, wireless access points (WAPs), security cameras, and associated hardware throughout the school facility. The revised bid submission deadline has been extended to March 19, 2026. The project clarifications address manufacturer approvals, material specifications, and responsibility assignments between the structured cabling vendor and other trades, including the electrician and AV contractor.

Key clarifications confirm that ICC and Genesis are approved manufacturers for specified components, while black outdoor plant cable is acceptable despite green specifications, and 23 AWG patch cables are permitted for station end locations. The structured cabling vendor bears responsibility for all cable support hardware between main distribution frame (MDF) and intermediate distribution frame (IDF) locations to data endpoints, with J-hooks preferred, and must provide surface-mount backboxes for WAPs and cameras along with stainless steel faceplates. The electrician is responsible for supplying sleeving, conduits, junction boxes, and other hardware support items, except for those explicitly assigned to the structured cabling contractor. All patch cords are to be delivered to the owner for installation. This is not a prevailing wage project, and FIS is not an approved manufacturer for fiber-optic components.

Response: Yes, except the structured cabling vendor is responsible to provide and install surface mount backboxes (above ceiling) for WAPs and cameras (Section 2.8) and stainless steel faceplates, as specified (Section 2.7).

9. On the Typical Teacher Station detail (T1.0), it shows two double-gang boxes at 18" and 48".

Only the decora plate at 18" shows the two-port keystone decora insert. The boxes at 48" only show a decora for AV use. Is this top wall plate provided by the AV contractor or by the structured-cabling contractor?

Response: Refer to section 2.7. Yes, structured cabling contractor shall provide the stainless steel faceplates.

10. Does the AV vendor provide their own decora inserts? If this is to be provided by the structured-cabling contractor, can you share the part number to be supplied?

Response: Yes.

11. The pre-approved CAT6 OSP outdoor cable only comes in black (Prysmian GenSPEED 6 MAX).

The specifications state this should be green. Is black acceptable for the outside-plant cable?

Response: Yes.

12. We are unable to find a manufacturer that provides a model of patch cable that meets all the requirements listed in the specification document. These are specialty, custom-ordered items:

CAT6a, non-booted, 28 AWG micro, plenum. Can you provide an approved manufacturer and model? If not, are slim/flex booted patch cables acceptable? Are standard 23 AWG patch cables acceptable? For example, would the FS model be acceptable for WAP locations? (10 ft Cat6a 28

AWG Snagless U/UTP CM/LSZH Small-Diameter High-Flex Patch Cable, White, P/N

C6AUTPSGSLSZHCM)

Response: Refer to sections 2.9 and 2.10 E & F. 23 AWG patch cables are acceptable for station end cables only.

13. Are patch cables installed by the contractor and left coiled, or handed off to the owner to be installed?

Response: See section 2.9 and 2.10. Contractor shall deliver all patch cords to owner for installation.

14. Is FIS (Fiber Instrument Sales) an acceptable manufacturer for fiber-optic enclosures, splice trays, panels, and connectors?

Response: FIS is not a pre-approved equivalent. See section 2.4.H for list of approved manufacturers.
