About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for RFP #25-016, involving the Cherry Creek School District (CCSD) and potential telecommunications carriers. The RFP addresses the relocation of Lumen fiber circuits currently housed in the Education Service Center (ESC) building, which is scheduled for demolition in September, with circuit moves planned for June or July. The relocation will be to the Transportation West Building (TRW) on the same campus, with an anticipated minimum circuit placement duration of 5 years. The project is tied to the CCSD 2024 bond and is time-sensitive, with the RFP adhering to E-rate funding deadlines that prevent deadline extensions.

Key details include that Comcast confirmed being under current contract and not open to carrier replacement, while Lumen and Capitol Innovations sought clarification on circuit permanence and site logistics. The replacement building for the ESC is not expected to be designed until the next bond passes in 2028, with potential occupancy not before 2030. Site visits are permitted, but no deadline extensions will be granted. The project is funded through E-rate, and carriers are expected to provide solutions for rerouting fiber connections between buildings, with the understanding that the current ESC building will be demolished to make way for new construction at Cherry Creek High School.
