About this file
This document is an addendum for the Saline Area Schools' 2022 Bond Program Bid Release No. 1 for the STEAM and Weight Room Additions project. The addendum provides clarifications and changes to the contract documents, including updates to the polished concrete finish, revisions to the unit masonry specifications, and additions to the exterior elevations drawings. Key changes include the addition of an exterior elevation tag, a new partial guardrail elevation, and clarification that the base bid polished concrete finish shall be Salt & Pepper. The bid proposal due date remains 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
The addendum also includes responses to pre-bid requests for information, providing details on the aluminum guardrail alternate and the interior logo design. Specifically, the guardrail alternate details a 4" aluminum guardrail to match the existing configuration, while the interior logo can be painted directly on the CMU wall or provided as a vinyl logo by the owner.

QUESTION Matt Wielechowski on 1/10/2024 11:54 AM
I have a question regarding the roof edge metals for the Saline project. In the specs the edge metal is mentioned in 3 spec categories with different materials for each. Can you confirm what materials should be considered for the copings and fascia and confirm that they want a custom color? Any help is appreciated.
ANSWER Matt Wielechowski on 1/11/2024 11:55 AM
Specification section 077100 should be referenced for copings & fascia. Yes, we're asking for a custom metallic color to match existing.

Specification section 077100 should be referenced for copings & fascia. Yes, we're asking for a custom metallic color to match existing.

QUESTION Matt Wielechowski on 1/10/2024 02:51 PM
Please clarify the specified material of the 4" fine graded granular vs. the 4" granular sub-base. If this is all Class II sand, do you want to split between bid categories?
ANSWER Matt Wielechowski on 1/11/2024 03:12 PM
- Specified material under the 4" floor Slab on Grade is "A noncohesive soils mat - MDOT Class II sand directly below floor slabs. The mat should be a minimum of 8" in thickness and compacted to a minimum of 95% of Modified Proctor
MDD". This is the intent of the design and matches the Geotechnical Report recommendations (see section 3.3).
- The 8" of Class II sand is the responsibility of Bid Category 03A - Building Concrete Flatwork and Site Concrete.
- This RFI replaces RFI-0013.
This is typical detail which should be verified against the geotechnical report. Per Driesenga & Associates report dated
August 8, 2023 (DA Job #2320500.3A), an 8" mat is acceptable. Please verify and coordinate geotechnical with
Driesenga.

QUESTION Matt Wielechowski on 1/11/2024 09:21 AM
What is the reasoning behind PVC DWV piping not being approved for underground sanitary and storm? Cast Iron
No-Hub is the only approved material and that typically isn’t installed underground anymore.
Above ground makes sense with the return air plenum.
ANSWER Theresa Card on 1/11/2024 09:40 AM (Promoted by Matt Wielechowski on 1/11/2024 11:57 AM)
Neither SES nor Saline prefers PVC. Spec calls for hubless or hub and spigot underground.

QUESTION Matt Wielechowski on 1/11/2024 09:23 AM
The windscreen for the temp fence will create problems without a top rail and not being post driven. Is the intent for the fence to be post driven? Please advise.
ANSWER Matt Wielechowski on 1/11/2024 03:24 PM
Provide 6' temporary fence in lieu of 8'. Fence should be post driven for both weight room and STEAM Additions. Wind screen is only required at the STEAM Addition. Provide top rail at STEAM Addition temp fence for support of windscreen. Provide 2 pedestrian gates at locations designated by Clark Construction per addition.
