About this file
This document is a Lighting Design Analysis Report (LDAR) prepared by Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. for Collier County, Florida, focusing on the intersection improvement project at Collier Boulevard (CR-951) and City Gate Boulevard North. The project scope involves signalizing the intersection, including minor roadway improvements such as removing the existing directional traffic separator, adding lighting attached to signal poles, and improving signing and pavement marking by adding a crosswalk for pedestrian safety across Collier Boulevard.
The lighting design utilizes Apollo Metro LED fixtures (SL5-NW-150-L-T4) with 17,900 lumens at 4000K, mounted at 35 feet on traffic signal masts. The analysis was developed using the 2024 Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Design Manual, Standard Plans, and Specifications. The lighting calculations revealed that some crosswalk segments do not fully meet FDOT illumination requirements, and additional lights may be needed on City Gate Boulevard and Collier southbound side before the intersection to adequately illuminate pedestrian crossings. The project's lighting design aims to enhance safety and visibility at the intersection while adhering to transportation engineering standards.
