The project encompasses approximately 3.3 miles of roadway improvements along 16th Street NE from Golden Gate Boulevard West to Randall Boulevard, including construction of a new 147-foot bridge over the Golden Gate Main Canal with two 12-foot travel lanes, a 12-foot shoulder on the east side, and a 6-foot shoulder with 6-foot sidewalk on the west side. Additional project elements include roadway widening to provide 11-foot travel lanes with 6-foot shoulders throughout the corridor, installation of a 6-foot sidewalk west of the roadway, minor drainage modifications to existing roadside swales, new concrete driveway installations, and a new traffic signal system at 16th Street NE and Randall Boulevard. Sealed bids are due November 20, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. local time, with a non-mandatory pre-bid meeting scheduled for October 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Naples, Florida. Project Scope Outline
16th Street NE Bridge (Project No. 60212.1)
The project encompasses approximately a 3.3-mile section of 16th Street NE from the intersection with Golden Gate Boulevard West extending north to the intersection of Randall Boulevard. 16th Street NE intersects with a series of narrow dead-end streets.
The improvements proposed will provide connectivity and roadway enhancements to those dead-end streets and improve emergency response times and safety along the corridor.
A PD&E Study entitled “Golden Gate Estates Bridge Crossings” was completed for this site in September 2016. The proposed roadway improvements for this project consist of adding a new bridge, providing additional lane width and shoulders by widening to the west of the existing roadway. The widening will provide 11-foot travel lanes with 6-foot shoulders (4-foot paved plus 2-foot unpaved) along the entire length of the project. A 6-foot sidewalk will be constructed to the west of the roadway. The improvements will include minor drainage modifications to existing roadside swales and the installation of new concrete driveways up to the existing right- of-way.
The typical section of the proposed bridge consists of two, 12-foot travel lanes, a 12-foot shoulder on the east side, and a 6-foot shoulder and a 6-foot sidewalk on the west side of the bridge. The proposed bridge width and length is 50 feet 5 inches and 147 feet 0.5 inches, respectively.
The project will add a new signal system at 16th Street NE and Randall Boulevard.
