Radcliff Center - Toilet Room Upgrades - Group 2 - RFI Log
Q & A
Is a temporary wall required to protect the work area.
There is no existing drinking fountain at this bathroom set. Will the drinking founatin remain part of the scope?
Addressing the transom above the men’s restroom—after expanding the door to the new width, are we covering it with drywall or a different transom thing?
Transom area to be expanded to width of new door and infilled with framing and gypsum board on each side
(painted).
Yes, the drinking fountain is to be installed as planned.
Would you like an option for non-touch less toilets/urinals?
A wall is not required, though a plastic screen is required during the demolition and installation of the CMU block.
Adding the removal of cabinets and ceiling brackets in bathroom addition (careful with cabinets as we would like to reuse)
All cabinets and associated hardware is to be salvaged for re-use by Owner. Owner to identify storage location.
Installation is NOT to be included in bid costs.
Bathroom lights—set on motion detector
Yes, this is acceptable. Note location on drawings.
Does there need to be emergency lights inside toilet rooms? If not ceiling mounted, would they be exit signs with lights?
No, the existing fire alarms with strobes are to remain.
You are welcome to submit a voluntary alternate for touchless toilets and urinals. Please include cut sheets or proposed specifications.
Do you have a generator back-up?
Yes, the building does have a generator but it is unknown if it services this area of the building.
Location of occupancy sensors?
See drawings.
What type of trim kit for the new light fixtures? Match existing, or recessed into ceiling?
Light fixtures are to be surface-mounted.
The project is for one set of bathrooms (someone asked me about the others in the building)
Can we clarify the first alternative to be a paint alternative on any dry wall—not the wet walls?
Revised drawings clarify Alternate #01 requests paint on walls without plumbing fixtures. All walls with plumbing fixtures are to receive tile as indicated.
This project is for only ONE set of bathrooms, per the drawings.
What are the emergency lighting requirements? Think this was also in the voicemail but reminded me someone had that question
The existing fire alarms with strobes are to remain. No additional lighting is required.
Bathroom doors transom windows above like existing?
No transom windows are required.

I remember from the meeting I thought you stated you like the 8x8 tile rather than the spec ’ed 4x12. Is this accurate or just go with the specified 4x12 tile.
See new tile specification for 6"x6" tile in pattern similar to that shown in the interior elevations.
Prints state requirement of shop drawings from HVAC & plumbing contractor, are we enforcing this?
Submittals will be required.
Where Existing bathroom door is being blocked in, do you want the blocks knocked out and toothed in or fill in between existing blocks like other areas we done in the building?
All infill CMU is to be toothed into existing adjacent CMU walls to remain.
Currently it says nothing on painting Hallway where all block work is being done. How much of the hallway needs to be painted and are we trying to color match existing colors?
Plans indicate to remove/replace new exhaust grills on MP-100 for demolition. But on new work directly to its right it has ER-1 150 CFM indicating a new exhaust fan. Which direction should I take?
Existing exhaust fans to remain. New grilles are required. CFM information was for air balancing only.
Existing specialty accessories & baby changing station are to be salvaged and re-used on A-101 demolition notes.
On A-601 it has toilet room accessories indicating all new. Please advise.
Existing accessories are to be salvaged and placed in care of the Owner. They may be used in other locations of the building outside of the scope area. This project will require new fixtures as indicated.
See clarification of extent of painting in the Corridor.
It calls for mortise lock with dead bolt, these are multi-use bathrooms can we install push/pull handles instead?
Yes, the reference to mortise locks and deadbolts has been removed.
What kind of base molding? For tile walls and block walls?
The existing terrazzo cove is to remain. See interior elevations. All areas of new framed wall construction are to receive coved tile to the floor as part of base bid and to include vinyl trim for the alternate. Any areas where demolition remove the existing terrazzo cove, it is to be replaced with formed concrete (or similar).
