About this file

The document is a Local Public Agency Proposal Bid Bond for the City of Urbana in Champaign County, Illinois, associated with the Bituminous Surface Treatment Project 2024 (Section Number 24-00683-00-SC). The bid bond is a standard financial instrument that guarantees the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded, with a penal sum of 5% of the total bid price. The project involves constructing a bituminous surface treatment using crushed steel slag aggregate (CA 16 gradation) and emulsified asphalt, with all materials requiring approval from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).

The bid bond ensures the contractor's commitment to the project, specifying that within 15 days of award, the winning bidder must enter into a formal contract, provide performance surety, and furnish required insurance coverage. The contractor is responsible for material compatibility and must provide evidence of materials inspection according to IDOT's Project Procedures Guide. Any incompatible aggregate must be replaced at the contractor's expense. The document allows for both traditional and electronic bid bond submissions, providing flexibility in the bidding process for potential contractors.
