A. Pulse-jet cartridge collector system as shown on the plans. Basis of design is AAF PulsePak Prime model 10-2H.

B. The pulse-jet cartridge collector shall be supplied in factory assembled unit incorporating one module sized to meet airflow capacity per design documents. Maximum allowable air to filter area ratio shall be 2.6 to 1.

C. Overall construction shall be of painted hot rolled steel with 3/16" thickness. Paint system is one coat alkyd primer on inside and outside, followed by textured alkyd finish coat on exterior, suitable for 1000 hour salt spray rating. Standard Gray color.

D. The inlet shall enter through the top front of the housing and above the filters to ensure proper down flow of incoming air. Crossflow and vertically mounted filters will not be accepted.

E. Cartridges shall be “vee” shaped with pleats in the vertical direction to ensure the media does not create “shelves” on which the dust can settle. Metal sides shall be on top and bottom of the filter to ensure that dust does not blind off media on top of the cartridge.

Round, or of similar shape, cartridges will not be accepted. The cartridges shall have only one sealing surface to ensure proper sealing of the filter. Each cartridge shall have at least 552 sq. ft. of nanofiber flame retardant media providing MERV 15 rated filtration.

The collector shall come with an ASHRAE SPC199 third party verified test report.

F. Outlet is located through the bottom of the rear clean air plenum to ensure proper downflow through the collector.

G. The hoppers are integral to the housing. Support legs shall be designed for seismic zone

IV specifications, 130 mph winds and provide 48" clearance under the hopper for proper dust discharge.

May 2021 Roseburg High School Wood Shop 23 40 00 - 2

H. Hopper and housing are fully welded together. The housing shall be rated for -20" w.g.

operating pressure and have a Pred of at least 0.32 bar (128" w.g.). Hopper shall be designed with a steep 60-degree funnel terminating in a 12" diameter drum connection device without gates or doors to permit immediate downflow of dislodged dust into the dust disposal container.

I. The unit shall be designed to accommodate two standard 55 gallon drums. Furnish “hard pipe” barrel top adaptors that are suitable for a collector with explosion venting. The barrel top adaptor shall not use flex hose or a “positive seal” barrel top adapter. The barrel top adapter shall be rated for 70 inch w.g. internal pressure such that the adaptor withstands pressures generated from an explosion. The barrel top adaptor shall be bolted to the collector hopper and bolted to the collection drum to ensure airtight seal. Barrel top adaptor shall have quick release clamp. The barrel top adaptor for basis of design shall be American Air Filter model “XPBTA”.

J. Access to the filters shall be through the front of the collector via large, gasketed, hinged doors. The doors shall incorporate latches for easy open/close so that no tools shall be needed for filter access and replacement. Provide with Access Platform with Galvanized Bar Grating and Ladder for filter cartridge access. Include handrail around the platform.

K. The explosion vent shall be located on top of the unit so that the fireball is directed in a safe magnetic burst sensor on the explosion vent shall be included to shutdown collector if activated. Weather cover for the explosion vent is included. Explosion vent shall have a total open vent area of 7.27 sq. ft.

L. Pulse solenoids shall activate 1.5" diaphragm valves on the top of each pulse pipe.

Solenoid valves shall be rated NEMA 4. Solenoid valve silencers shall be supplied to reduce noise levels during pulses to 85 dba at 3 feet.

M. All components ship loose for field installation. Field assembly of the legs and bracing, housing section, fan, wiring, and pulse controller will be required.
