About this file

This is a specification document for furniture procurement and installation at the Civil Aeromedical Institute (013-CAI) at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The project requires the design, procurement, and installation of powered systems furniture, private office furniture, and freestanding companion storage furniture for the second floor of Building 013-CAI. The work encompasses all labor, equipment, materials, coordination, storage, and transportation necessary to deliver a complete and functional furniture system. Installation is scheduled to begin no earlier than March 1, 2027, and will occur in two phases: Phase 1 involves installing panel frames without faces to allow the construction general contractor to connect power harnesses and data wiring; Phase 2 involves installing remaining panel faces and components after electrical connections are completed. The furniture contractor must provide a qualified project team with minimum experience requirements including a project manager (5 years), designer (3 years), and installer (5 years), and must submit detailed to-scale drawings, itemized bills of materials with unit pricing for each typical, and a manufacturing/installation schedule with the bid package. All components must comply with ADA/ABA guidelines, IBC 2018, NFPA 101, ANSI/BIFMA standards, and fire safety ratings (smoke development 450, flame spread 25, Class A rating). Required products include panel-hung systems furniture with steel frames and acoustical panel faces in various heights (36"-84") and widths (18"-60" in 6" increments); height-adjustable sit-to-stand desks (27"-46" range); work surfaces of 24"-30" depth and 24"-72" widths; powered and data distribution systems with minimum 8-wire 3-circuit or 10-wire 4-circuit harnesses with separate neutrals per circuit and 24" minimum separation between power and data; drawer pedestals with locking mechanisms; overhead shelving and storage cabinets; task lighting with LED lamps; dual monitor arms; and various accessories. The furniture contractor is responsible for site acceptance inspections, damage repairs, material storage (with provisions for up to two months delay storage), delivery coordination, installation quality assurance, crew management with at minimum two-thirds authorized installers, and training of FAA personnel. A 10-year warranty (excluding fabrics and lighting) and 5-year component availability guarantee are required. The specification includes requirements for trim colors (minimum 5, metallic finishes), laminate colors (minimum 5 solids and 6 wood-grains), glazing patterns (minimum 3), and fabric patterns (minimum 5 patterns with 6 colors). Keying must utilize a master system with minimum 50 different keying options and 4 keys per workstation. The specification references multiple typical workstation configurations (2A, 4A-1, 4A-2, 4A-3, 5AA, 3B, 6B, 5BB, 6BB, C, D, E, F, F-1, G, J, K) and emphasizes that equal products may be substituted for manufacturer-specific references, which are provided only to convey aesthetics, quality, and function.
