About this file

This is a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for CleanEdge Product 2283, a cleaning chemical intended for use in a three-year Maryland state and local contract for light rail car wash chemicals. The product is a thin liquid with mild odor, composed of 2-butoxyethanol (0-5%), a proprietary surfactant blend (10-20%), and water. The material is nonflammable with a boiling point exceeding 212°F and a specific gravity of 0.95. Product storage requires ambient temperature conditions while avoiding freezing or extreme heat. The SDS was prepared on April 1, 2015, and designates an emergency contact number through CHEMTREC at (800) 424-9300.

The product presents minimal occupational hazards with a primary concern of skin irritation upon contact. Personal protective equipment requirements include safety glasses and rubber or neoprene gloves, with respiratory protection not normally required under standard conditions. The material is fully biodegradable and not regulated for shipping purposes. All ingredients are listed on the TSCA inventory, and the product contains no OSHA, NTP, or IARC-listed carcinogens. Accidental spill procedures involve mopping small quantities or diking large spills with inert absorbent material for disposal in accordance with applicable local, state, county, and federal regulations. First aid measures include flushing affected areas with water and seeking medical attention as necessary.
