BID OPENING DATE:

1/11/2023

ADDENDUM ITEMS: (attach additional sheets and drawings if required)

Bidder Questions:

1. On Sheet C2.1 Layout and Materials Legend list both proposed Standard Duty Sidewalk and Heated Concrete Sidewalk, but we do not see a difference in the hatching. The hatching for the heated sidewalk has been clarified.

2. The heated concrete sidewalk in Detail 8 on Sheet C4.0 refers to the Mechanical Sheets for Layout, there are not mechanical drawings in the plan set. This note has been removed. In general, the tubing shall match existing conditions and tie into the building system. Other than the tie-in, no internal building work should be required.

3. The spec book makes no reference to heated concrete. There is no different concrete mix design for heated concrete.

4. Page 31 20 00 – 4 section 3.4 Excavation, Contaminated Non-Hazardous Soil. Could you please verify that these are correct for this specific project? Section 3.4 can be removed in its entirety based on the geotechnical investigation which did not note any contaminated, non-hazardous soil.

5. The mix called out in the spec book—Page113, section 2.4—is 13A/36A 58-34 standard duty and 3C/4C for heavy duty. These are outdated mix designs, could you please clarify? The mix designs are based on MDOT HMA Selection Guidelines for Local Agency Programs, of which 13A and 36A are recommended in the lowest traffic bracket, and 3C and 4C are recommended in the next bracket. If advantageous to the project pricing, MDOT EL mix would be an acceptable substitution for standard duty and MDOT 5EML and 4EML mixes would be an acceptable substitution for heavy duty.

6. Density 96-100%, average 98% is specified. With 3 or 4 percent air voids, almost all MDOT specs are typically 92% - 98%. To allow for better flexibility, the Compaction section has been revised.

7. Application temperature: page 112, section 1.6 calls for a minimum temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit for the top course. This has been revised to lower the minimum temperature to 50-degrees Fahrenheit.

8. I see a pay item No. 6 Parking Lot Lighting Including Service & Controls. I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction as to where I can find the electrical drawings. There are no separate electrical drawings. Electrical work is shown on the Utility Plan, additional information has been added for clarity.

9. I did see on the drawing that (4) light poles are to be salvaged, (1) light pole to be removed, with everything else to be protected. Is that all that needs to be included in pay item No. 6? Pay Item No. 6 includes all electrical work associated with the project: 3 salvage (1 large pole in parking lot, 2 small lights for the flags), 2 removed (southeast corner of new parking lot and east of warehouse), 2 new (in expanded parking lot).

Plan Revisions:

1. Plan Sheet C3.5 is included.

2. Additional spot grades, northings and eastings have been added to the plans to assist with construction layout.

3. Additional Parking Lot lighting information has been added.

Specification Revisions:

1. Electrical specifications have been included for the parking lot lighting.

2. Asphalt Specification 32 12 16, as noted above.

Other Items:

1. Pre-Bid Sign-In Sheet is attached.

2. Geotechnical Investigation Report is attached.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: This Addendum must be acknowledged by the Bidder in the space provided in the Bid Summary and Bid Form. Failing to acknowledge Addenda may be cause for the Bid to be rejected. Addenda will become part of the Contract Documents.
