The project involves furnishing and delivering stone riprap and porous granular backfill material to the existing bridge (S.N. 010-4272) located 350 feet east of Brownfield Road in Urbana, Champaign County, Illinois. The material will be used for stream bank stabilization work planned for March 2024, with deliveries to be made by tandem and semi-truck loads to a stockpile on the work site. The Engineer will provide 72 hours' notice before material deliveries, which are expected to occur during the City's Public Works Department's normal operating hours of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
The contract will pay for stone riprap and porous granular backfill materials by the ton, at the contract unit price specified for each material type. The specifications require the stone riprap to meet Article 1005.01 of the Standard Specifications, and the porous granular backfill to comply with Article 1004.05, with a specific requirement that the coarse aggregate be gravel, crushed gravel, or crushed stone. An addendum (Addendum 01, dated 01/09/24) was issued to modify the specifications. The document includes additional provisions regarding insurance requirements, construction and maintenance noise limitations (adhering to City of Urbana noise ordinance), and prevailing wage rates for Champaign County, which can be found on the Illinois Department of Labor website.
