About this file
This is a Special Packaging Instruction (SPI) document that establishes detailed packaging requirements for a Power Supply item in military preservation compliance. The SPI applies Military Preservation IAW MIL-STD-2073 with serviceable and unserviceable methods both designated as 41, requiring cleaning and drying per MIL-STD-2073. The item must be marked according to IAW MIL-STD-129 with the SPI number F01-314-7781 marked on the identification side of the container.
The document specifies two packing levels. Level A utilizes ASTM D6251 packaging with dimensions of 17 5/8" length × 16 5/8" width × 12" depth, containing 2.961 cubic feet of gross volume and 53 pounds gross weight with a design fragility rating of 80. Level B uses ASTM D5118 RSC packaging measuring 17" length × 16" width × 11" depth, containing 1.935 cubic feet and 34 pounds with the same fragility rating of 80. Closure requirements specify ASTM D6251 for Level A and ASTM D1974 for Level B. Specific materials are detailed for eight components including tape, wrap, cushioning, bags, cushions, and an exterior container, all conforming to designated military specifications. The document includes mandatory compliance with International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM No. 15) requirements for wood packaging material, requiring heat-treated debarked wood at 56 degrees Centigrade for 30 minutes with certification from an accredited agency recognized by the American Lumber Standards Committee.
