About this file

This document is a specification and questionnaire from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for a severe-duty flail type mower attachment with a 3-point hitch. The mower must have a cutting width of at least 70 inches and be compatible with tractors ranging from 60 to 110 horsepower. The mower must include features such as hydraulic side-to-side offset, vertical rotation, a mulching option, and a heavy-duty rotor with forged and hardened steel hammer-style blades. The successful bidder must be able to provide prompt parts and service within the state of Illinois. Vendors are required to submit descriptive literature and complete a specification questionnaire with their bid response.

The contract will be awarded to an established manufacturer or authorized dealer, and serviceability will be a factor in the award decision. The successful vendor must guarantee delivery within the quoted time and ensure the mower is fully operational upon delivery. One-day training by qualified factory or dealer personnel must be provided to each receiving district. The mowers are being purchased for use with IDOT's existing fleet of industrial and agricultural tractors, so the successful bidder must ensure the mowers can be properly mounted and operated on these vehicles.
