About this file

This Request for Information (RFI) is issued by the Department of the Treasury's Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) to conduct market research for a comprehensive Warehouse Management System (WMS) for the Western Currency Facility. The BEP seeks an end-to-end automation solution that includes integration of barcode scanners, robotic process automation (RPA), and seamless system integration. Key technical requirements include creating shipment records, generating smart shipments using First-In-First-Out (FIFO) principles, tracking inventory with digital and physical location identifiers, and compatibility with existing systems like Oracle eBusiness Suite and Manufacturing Execution System (MES).

Vendors are requested to submit detailed responses by 8:00 p.m. Eastern on April 4, 2025, to gladys.m.wilks@irs.gov. The submission should include company information, system specifications, pricing estimates, implementation schedules, and responses to specific questions about the WMS solution. Responses are limited to 15 pages and should not include proprietary or sensitive information. The RFI emphasizes the need for a system that can track currency inventory from various printing sections, provide real-time capacity utilization insights, support standard inventory management equipment, and offer advanced features like visual retrieval indicators and multi-level control capabilities.

B. Smart Shipment Generation: Based on order receipt, the system shall generate shipment details with considerations on FIFO, bank ID, shipment quantity, etc. Inputs would be the bank/quantity requested by the customer.

C. The system shall include an inventory tracking system to incorporate Cash Pak numbers in BEP’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES). Current solution is comprised of several systems, including Oracle eBusiness Suite R12.2.12 which is the system of record for inventory data.

Vendor’s system must be compatible with currency BEP systems.

D. The system shall assign digital and physical location identifiers for the management of the inventory location.

E. The system shall assign put away locations and allow for manual assignment by operation if necessary.

F. The system shall track all Cash Paks/Federal Reserve Vault Inventory entering the vault, staging, and or shipment areas.

G. The system shall include capability to review process status in the Quality Assurance Release Process Salesforce application. Perform transactions in accordance with process status updates:

Released, hold, move processes to applicable storage area hold locators in MES/ Bureau of Engraving and Printing Network (BEN).

1. Transfer released processes, in accordance with MES/BEN monthly FRB delivery requirements, to applicable MES/BEN virtual warehouse.

2. Update Web Currency Ordering System (COS) to reflect processes available for shipment.

H.
