About this file

Addendum #2 to Sealed Bid Solicitation #2026-26, issued by the Town of Stratford, Connecticut on May 20, 2026, addresses acoustic improvements at Lordship Elementary School located at 254 Crown Street in Stratford. The project involves installing new acoustic panels—specifically 96" x 48" wall-mounted panels (32 total) in the base bid and 96" x 32" ceiling-mounted panels (37 total) under Alternate #1, totaling approximately 1,813 square feet of acoustic panels. The addendum includes a revised drawing (A-101) and a comprehensive RFI (Request for Information) log addressing 29 contractor inquiries submitted between May 15 and May 20, 2026. Key clarifications confirm that the Acoustimac 2" thick DMD panels with Z-Clip mounting are the basis of design, with equal-performance substitutes eligible for review; existing wall-mounted and ceiling-mounted panels shall be removed and disposed of by the contractor; working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with nights and weekends available upon request; and site conditions must be verified by contractors prior to bidding, as the pre-bid walkthrough on May 13, 2026 provided the opportunity for inspection. The sealed bid submission deadline was May 27, 2026 at 10:00 AM, with project award anticipated for June 9, 2026, mobilization on July 1, 2026, and substantial completion targeted for August 21, 2026.

The addendum clarifies that the contractor is responsible for applying for the building permit (fees paid by the Owner), protecting all existing surfaces including the rubber athletic floor with temporary protection, disposing of all removed materials, and cleaning and returning spaces to original condition. A dumpster location will be provided on site, preferably on pavement, and contractors may use existing building facilities for temporary toilets. The contractor shall assume caulk or grout products with the closest color match for filling anchor holes left by removed panels and shall follow construction documents for installation specifications, with the understanding that contractors bear responsibility for verifying existing substrate conditions and accommodating existing wall-mounted objects or conditions. Third-party testing is not required, and final cleaning shall be limited to returning the space to its original condition rather than the extensive professional cleaning scope outlined in specification 01770.

RFI LOG

New Acoustic Panels Lordship School Gym Date: 5/20/2026

Question Date Received

Directed To Response Response Date

1 Why were the panels specified to be 2 inches thick? Are you looking to obtain a certain NRC rating? I ask because they are not very common.

5/15/2026 Snyder The Acoustimac 2" thick, DMD panel is the basis of design. Or equal products with same or better performance will be reviewed and considered as substitutes.

5/19/2026

2 Would it be okay to substitute larger panels while maintaining the same square footage of panels in the space? This would greatly cut down on installation labor. (4’x4’ and 4’x8’)

5/15/2026 Snyder Wall panels are already 4'x8'. Contractor shall us specified panel sizes unless size needs to be adjusted to accommodate existing wall condition or wall mounted object.

5/19/2026

3 Are there any known hazardous material related to this project? 5/15/2026 Snyder No 5/19/2026

4 Is there a lift the district can provide for use during this project? 5/15/2026 Snyder No 5/19/2026

5 Where do we send the product substitution requests due on 5/22?

5/15/2026 Snyder Same as RFI's 5/19/2026

6 For the 96" x 32" ceiling-mounted acoustic panels, please confirm whether the panels are intended to be mounted directly to the ceiling/substrate or suspended below the ceiling. If suspended, please provide the required suspension method, drop distance, attachment hardware, spacing, attachment points, and any structural support/backing requirements. If mounted directly to the ceiling, please confirm the ceiling substrate and approved fastening method.

5/15/2026 Snyder Ceiling panels shall be attached to existing bar joists similar to existing acoustic panels that are being removed.

5/19/2026

7 Please clarify the items shown at or near the highlighted/marked areas on the A-101 Reflected Ceiling Plan. Please identify what these existing ceiling elements are and confirm whether they conflict with, interfere with, or require coordination around the proposed ceiling-mounted acoustic panels. If any of these items are in the way of the new ceiling panels, please confirm whether the panels are to be adjusted/repositioned or whether the existing ceiling-mounted items are to be relocated by others.

5/15/2026 Snyder Contractor shall follow construction drawings for installation and shall verify existing conditions to confirm panel sizes prior to ordering materials.

5/19/2026

8 If Z-clips are indicated for the wall-mounted acoustic panels, please confirm whether Rotofast mechanical fasteners would be acceptable as an alternate mounting method for the wall-mounted panels only. Since these panels are being installed in a gymnasium and may be impacted by balls, students, or normal gym activity, we recommend Rotofast fasteners to provide a more secure mechanical attachment and reduce the risk of panels becoming loose or dislodged over time. Product information can be reviewed here: https://rotofast.com. Please note that use of Rotofast fasteners may increase the material/product cost for the wall-mounted acoustic panel scope.

5/15/2026 Snyder The Acoustimac Z-Clips are the basis of design. Or equal products with same or better performance will be reviewed and considered as substitutes.

5/19/2026

9 Please confirm whether the existing wall-mounted and ceiling-mounted acoustic panels are to be removed and disposed of by the contractor.

5/15/2026 Snyder Contractor shall dispose of all removed materials. 5/19/2026

10 Please confirm whether there will be an approved location on site for a dumpster to be delivered and staged during the work.

5/15/2026 Snyder Yes 5/19/2026

11 Please confirm permitted working hours, site access procedures, material delivery windows, staging/parking locations, and any restrictions for use of lifts, scaffolding, or other access equipment inside the gym. Please also confirm whether any after-hours, weekend, or school-occupied building restrictions will apply during the work.

5/15/2026 Snyder 7:00 to 3:00 Monday to Friday working hours are assumed but nights and weekends are available if requested. It is assumed lifts and/or scaffolding is needed to complete project.

Contractor shall protect all existing conditions as needed during construction so as to not damage floors, etc ...

5/19/2026
