About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) spreadsheet for a Fire Extinguisher Service Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) solicitation number 2025-PZI-1568 issued by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Hanscom Air Force Base. The Q&A addresses technical details about fire extinguisher maintenance, including clarifications on extinguisher sizes (5LB, 6 Liter, 10LB, and 20LB), maintenance requirements, and classification specifics.

Key technical details include a 6-year maintenance requirement involving internal and external inspection for stored pressure extinguishers, with specific attention to Class K fire extinguishers. The solicitation requires contractors to inspect, test, perform maintenance, and report on portable fire extinguishers in compliance with UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA-10 standards. The government also considered and adjusted the Product Service Code (PSC) to J042 based on contractor input, demonstrating flexibility in the solicitation process while maintaining core technical requirements for fire extinguisher service and maintenance.

QuestionAnswer
Would you consider changing your NAICS and PSC to 541990 and J042?After extensive market research, the Government believes that the current NAICS is the best option for this effort, but recongizes that the offered code also applies. The Government agrees that the PSC of J042 is more appropriate and has been updated.
Can you share with me what sizes the extinguishers are? Or should we give you a quote for 2.5lb, 5lb, 10lb, and 20lb extinguishers? Is it 6 yr maintenance only or are they possibly due for the 12 year hydro test?Sizes of Fire Extinguishers are 5LB, 6 Liter, 10LB and 20LB, depending on specific building. 6-year maintenance is internal inspection and recharge, and 12-year test is a pressure test to ensure the cylinders integrity
For CLIN 0004, 6 Year Maintenance of Class K Extinguishers Is this meant to be a 5 year hydro? There is no 6 year on a K classNo, A 6-year maintenance check on a Class K fire extinguisher involves a thorough internal and external inspection and potentially discharging and refilling the extinguisher to ensure its functioning correctly.

Frequency: This maintenance is required every six years for stored pressure extinguishers that also require a 12-year hydrostatic test, according to NFPA 10.
