About this file

This is a tax assessment notice insert issued by a county taxing jurisdiction regarding 2025 property tax valuations and homestead exemption applications. The document provides notification that tax bills will be mailed later in 2025 and that millage rates are subject to change pending Board of Commissioners approval between July and September 2025. The deadline for filing homestead applications for 2025 was April 1, 2025, with a secondary filing opportunity during the appeal period with a deadline of July 14, 2025. Applications must be submitted in person at the Tax Assessor's office, and homestead exemptions require ownership and occupancy of the property as of January 1, 2025. Only one county homestead exemption per property is permitted.

The document outlines nine homestead exemption categories identified by county codes, including standard homestead (L1), age-based exemptions for residents aged 62 and older (L2, L3, L6, L9), permanent disability exemption for individuals under age 65 (L12), and disabled veteran exemptions for multiple age groups (L16, L17, L18, L19) requiring 100 percent disability rating or unemployability status. Additional exemptions are available for unremarried surviving spouses of U.S. service members killed in war or armed conflict (SS) and unremarried surviving spouses of firefighters or peace officers killed in the line of duty (SG). Age-based exemptions require new or updated applications when initially claiming benefits.
