About this file
This document provides information on the Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) and the process for linking Grants.gov and Login.gov accounts. The UEI is a 12-character identifier assigned to all entities doing business with the federal government, which is obtained from the System for Award Management (SAM). Grants.gov now retrieves the UEI from SAM and displays it to users logged into their Grants.gov accounts. The document also outlines the steps applicants must take to link their Grants.gov and Login.gov accounts, which involves clicking the Login.gov button on the Grants.gov login screen, logging into Login.gov with an email address and password, then being directed back to Grants.gov to log in with their Grants.gov username and password.
The related federal grant opportunity is for "Strengthening Government Through Civil Society Engagement in Panama" issued by the US Embassy Panama City under the Department of State. The federal grant program it falls under is the "Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs (WHA) Grant Programs (including Energy and Climate Partnership for the Americas)." No additional details are provided on award amounts, response dates or other requirements.

UNIQUE ENTITY ID
• On April 4, 2022, the U.S. government switched from using the DUNS Number to a new Unique Entity ID (SAM), also known as a UEI.
• What is a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI)?
• A Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) is a unique number assigned to all entities (public and private companies, individuals, institutions, or organizations) who register to do business with the federal government. (U.S. General Services Administration).
UEI numbers are obtained from www.sam.gov. The UEI is a 12-character unique number assigned to all entities (public and private companies, individuals, institutions, or organizations) who must register to do business with the federal government in SAM.
• Applicant users who have registered with the System for Award Management (SAM) are now seeing their Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) within Grants.gov.
• Grants.gov now retrieves the UEI from SAM, and all users who have registered with SAM are now seeing their UEI when they log into Grants.gov.
• The UEI is assigned by and viewable within SAM, but Grants.gov users can also find it listed under their organization profile.
1. Log into your Grants.gov account.
2. Click on the My Account link at the top of the page.
3. Click on the Manage Profiles tab on the next screen.
4. Look under the UEI column header for the UEI for each profile that is registered with SAM.

LOGGING INTO GRANTS.GOV
• Another change is that to log into grants.gov non-federal users will be required to sign in to Grants.gov with Login.gov credentials.
• The process for linking Grants.gov and Login.gov accounts is simple. Here are the steps:
• Click the Login.gov button on the Grants.gov login screen.
• Complete the login process on Login.gov using your Login.gov username
