About this file
This document is Addendum #1 for the Polvadera Fire Station Project (ITB 2018-05-407) issued by Socorro County, New Mexico. The addendum addresses multiple technical clarifications and questions about the project, including confirmation of six sectional doors, electrical service details, concrete slab thicknesses, and specific construction requirements. The project timelines are specified as 4 months (120 days) for Item 1 and 6 months (180 days) for Item 2, with bids to be hand-delivered to 210 Park Street in Socorro, NM by 1:45 pm. The last day for questions was November 1st, 2018, and it is noted as a single award contract.
The project considers New Mexico Veterans/In-State Preference and Socorro County Local Option Procurement Preference Ordinance 2013-003. Utilities will be provided by Socorro Electric Cooperative and Polvadera MDWCA. The building materials will be inventoried by Socorro County prior to construction, with any missing parts being the county's liability. Appliances will be coordinated during the Shop Drawing Phase, with the county selecting and coordinating with the contractor. No opinion of probable cost was provided, and millings located on the property are not part of the project scope. Contractors are advised to reference the Geotech Report regarding soil fill for the pad.

Socorro County – Addendum #1 Polvadera Fire Station
ITB 2018-05-407
Questions and Answers:
Regarding the release and review of addenda for this bid: This project References AIA Contract Document A-701 which was included in the project manual. Article 3.4.1 states Addendum shall be posted at least 4 days prior to bidding, unless the addenda is to cancel the bid which can be done up to the last minute.
After contacting Socorro Coop and speaking with Bill Harris, he tells me that there has been no request by Socorro County for a Coop work order to line stake the potential new service to the fire station. He could not give me a estimate on the cost of placing the new service. Socorro County has to request for the line stake service to generate an estimate. Socorro County will make the request.
The electrical service is part of Item Two in the bid? Yes
The overhead doors are part of bid one item with manual lift chains? Yes The electrical operators are part of bid two item? Yes
We got the bid documents of the Construction Reporter site. The Spec documents have the word DRAFT in shadow on the instruction pages beginning on page 16. Are the bid form and other bid documents the correct items in the documents shown on the Construction Reporter site? The Bid Forms are Correct, The AIA Documents with DRAFT in shadow are sample forms for example only.
What are the specifications for the water & sewer line? No indication. Sewer and Water Line requirements are provided on Sheet C-102 Notes 1-9.
Do you have dirt quantities? No, See Sheet C-101 for grading and topo. The roadway is not in the contract and will be provided by the owner at a later date, The scope includes the building pad and concrete drive pads adjacent to the building.
How thick is the basecourse for the roadway surfacing? The roadway is not in the contract and will be provided by the owner at a later date.
What is the thickness of the hotmix? You have nothing on the scope. The roadway is not in the contract and will be provided by the owner at a later date.
Can Contractors use borrow from the pond if needed? Yes.
The door schedule, exterior elevations, and the electrical power plan all show 6 sectional doors. However, the overall floor plan only shows 5 doors. Please confirm how many sectional doors are required. There are SIX Doors as shown on the elevations.
Specifications require a standard white finish for the sectional doors. However, there is a note on sheet A-201 requiring a red finish. Please confirm whether a special red finish will be required. Provide a White Finish.
Where is there a bench mark? A survey provided by the owner and included with the drawings does not call out a Bench Mark. The drawing does indicate a “Found Nail (Horizontal Control)” on the drawing near the gate shown in the SE quadrant at N:9470.98 E:20297.98. The drawing CAD file will be available to the successful bidder.
Sheet AS101 has notes stating “edge of future gravel road NIC” for the access road and fire truck turnaround. Sheet C101 Keyed Note #1 states “Construction paved road. See Detail 4/C-501 and 7/S501. (Not in contract).” Are we to include any of the earthwork/grading in our pricing or are we to exclude the whole scope of work, earthwork/subgrade, basecourse and paving? All roadwork is NIC.
Also, Notes #6 & 7 on Sheet C101 are calling for culverts to be installed across the new roadway. If the earthwork prep for the roads is not included in our scope of work, it may be counterintuitive for the contractor to install them as part of our scope of work. True – Culverts will be installed when the road is installed in the future.
Keyed Note #2 on Sheet C101 states to install the concrete paving per Detail 5/C-501 & 6/S501. Details 5 & 6 on Sheet C501 are calling for the concrete paving to be 4” thick but Structural Drawing S101 is calling for an 8” slab in front of the overhead door locations. Are these sections to be applied to the front entrance, parking area, sidewalks at West side and equipment pads only? Please clarify. 8” Slab at OH Door locations – 4” Slab at pedestrian walks.
Can you clarify if the wall tile in the restroom is full height or just a wainscot? If a wainscot, can you provide the height? Wainscot to 6’-0”
The finish schedule on Sheet A101 is calling for paint type P-2 on all the walls of the Garage. The North, South and West walls don’t indicate a wall type. Is the intent to paint all the exposed PEMB structure or are we to paint the insulation as well? Paint over insulation face material.
The finish schedule on Sheet A101 is calling for rubber base at the Garage walls. The North, South and West walls don’t indicate a wall type. Without a wall the only thing to attach the base to is the PEMB base channel. Can you clarify if this is the intent? No Base required.
Sheet A201 Elevation 3 has a note that reads “Pipe Bollard Typical” but there doesn’t appear to be any pipe bollards shown other than two at the interior of the building at the West wall to protect the duct work. Can you please clarify where bollards are required? No Pipe Bollards are required.
