About this file

This is a wood sign post procurement order from the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) for delivery to five regional sign shop locations across the state. The order specifies rectangular wooden sign posts in ten different size configurations, ranging from 4"x4"x14' to 6"x6"x20', with a total of 1,045 pieces to be distributed among the Scarborough, Augusta, Dixfield, Bangor, and Caribou facilities. The distribution quantities vary by location, with Bangor receiving 350 pieces, Caribou receiving 300 pieces, Scarborough receiving 150 pieces, Dixfield receiving 100 pieces, and Augusta receiving 145 pieces. The specific items requested include various combinations of post dimensions, with the largest single order being 335 pieces of 4"x4"x14' posts for Scarborough and Bangor combined.

The wood sign posts must be manufactured from Eastern Hemlock No. 2 or better, or Southern Yellow Pine No. 2 or better, treated to 0.40 inch penetration with ACQ treatment and 0.60 PCF retention. The lumber must be kiln or air dried before treatment, incised on all four sides, and dressed on all four sides (D4S). Posts must be cut from live growing native hemlock trees, be structurally sound and free from defects such as loose knots, shake, holes, or heart rot, with tolerances of 1 inch in length and 1/4 inch in width or thickness. The pricing structure in the document shows placeholder values of $0, indicating that unit pricing and total costs were to be completed by bidders.
