The project involves complete replacement and upgrade of the network core, aggregation, and edge switches, wireless controller, and access points across seven district buildings: Lakeview High School, Jefferson Middle School, Ardmore Elementary, Greenwood Elementary, Harmon Elementary, Princeton Elementary, and Wheat Educational Campus. The scope includes installation of new patch panels, grounding and bonding of equipment, removal and proper disposal of existing network equipment with certification, pre- and post-installation RF site surveys (non-classroom areas only), and wireless bridge installation from Lakeview High School to the Athletic Stadium. The project requires Cisco switches as the district standard with Aruba approved for wireless, along with APC-basis UPS units in all MDF and IDF closets. The bid structure includes a Base Bid #1 for wired network equipment, Base Bid #2 for wireless LAN components, Mandatory Alternate #1 to deduct post-site survey and add real-time network performance evaluation tools, and Mandatory Alternate #2 for a physical wireless controller instead of virtual. Vendor questions were due January 31, 2020, with addenda issued by February 5, 2020, bids due March 6, 2020 at 2:00 PM, post-bid interviews in March 2020, award on March 18, 2020, project start April 1, 2020, and completion by July 15, 2020.

Bidders must submit one original plus three hard copies and one full electronic copy in sealed packages to the Wheat Building at 27575 Harper Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081. Bid bonds of 5% of the base bid amount, performance bonds for 100% of the base bid amount, and labor and materials bonds for 100% of the base bid amount are required. Pricing must be submitted via Microsoft Word bid forms including line item pricing by building and complete bill of materials with unit pricing. Work must be staged within MDF and IDFs with one classroom per building dedicated for contractor storage, with general working hours after 3:30 PM and weekends at elementary schools, after 3:00 PM and weekends at secondary schools, and after 4:00 PM at Wheat Educational Campus during the school year; summer hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
