About this file

This document is a comprehensive access control guide for Schriever Space Force Base (SFB) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, current as of August 15, 2025.

The document outlines four primary access categories for official business: escorted base access (1–5 days duration), unescorted base access (1–59 days), extended unescorted access (60+ days), and restricted area (RA) access. For escorted visits, visitors bring two forms of identification to the Visitor Control Center (VCC) and meet a Common Access Card (CAC) holder escort with a 1:10 escort ratio. For unescorted base access lasting 1–59 days, a Security Manager submits a Base Authorization List (BAL) to the VCC with up to 72 hours processing time; visitors with Real ID receive a scannable pass valid 30 days maximum, while those with other approved photo IDs receive a paper pass for the same duration. For access exceeding 60 days, the process mirrors the shorter duration but requires submission of a DBIDS form alongside the BAL, and the Security Force (SFS) issues a DBIDS card instead of a temporary pass. Restricted area access requires either escorted entry with a temporary V-Badge or unescorted access following completion of a Tier 1 background check (30–90 days), an escort test with the sponsoring unit security manager, and Form 2586 submission to SFS.

Vehicle access is determined by axle count and destination. Two-axle vehicles (company or personal vehicles and open trailers) enter through any gate via normal lanes, while vehicles with three or more axles (including enclosed trailers) proceed to the Irwin Gate Commercial Search Area during Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., or to the Enoch main gate at other times, with priority given to concrete and asphalt trucks. Restricted Area Vehicle Passes (RAVP) follow similar procedures to personnel access and are valid up to 180 days. The VCC operates Monday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; Friday, 7:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.; and the Commercial Vehicle Search Area operates Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. The document also includes a deniable offenses matrix listing disqualifying criminal convictions and conduct issues that result in automatic or discretionary denial of installation access, with denial periods ranging from indefinite to offense-specific timeframes determined by the Installation Commander.
