About this file
This document is a specification for a motorized power pusher unit (tug or tow tractor) containing detailed technical and performance requirements.
The required equipment must include a 36-volt DC electric motor rated at either 1,500 watts or 4 horsepower with a 200-ampere programmable controller. Power is supplied by sealed, maintenance-free Dryfit or Gel-type batteries with IATA approval. The unit must feature an on-board, IP68-rated multi-input voltage charger compatible with standard 110/120-volt wall outlets. Primary braking must utilize regenerative braking with an automatic parking brake, while control mechanisms include a variable-speed forward/reverse twist-grip throttle offering 0-3 mph with adjustable speed limiting, an on/off key switch, and two fixed or lockable wheels with two swivel wheels for steering. The pusher must be capable of both pushing and pulling operations. Minimum push/pull capacity is 20,000 pounds, not to exceed 35,000 pounds, with tongue weight support up to 1,000 pounds. Safety features include a mandatory emergency stop button, integrated horn, and battery indicator gauge. The unit must be equipped with foam-filled turf tires and capable of continuous operation for a minimum of six hours, with intended use on paved areas with slopes. Standard attachments include a pintle hook, with flexibility to accommodate universal hitch-type devices.
