About this file
This is an Aerial Herbicide Application Specifications document from the Green River District Bureau of Land Management (GRD BLM) in cooperation with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) for habitat restoration and maintenance in Carbon and Emery County, Utah. The project involves aerial herbicide application on 5,841.3 acres in Clarks Valley and Mud Springs, approximately 13 miles east of Carbon County Regional Airport. The treatment is designed to prevent the establishment and spread of noxious and invasive non-native species, particularly cheatgrass. The project will occur between October 15 and November 15, 2025, with contractors required to apply indaziflam and imazapic herbicides using helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, or UAS aircraft.
Bids are to be submitted on a cost-per-acre basis, with the contractor responsible for supplying all chemicals. The application requires specific technical specifications, including CP nozzles with 500-700 micron size, GPS-equipped aircraft for 100% coverage, and application starting by 7:00 a.m. to minimize wind drift. Contractors must have prior experience in aerial herbicide application, and negative references may result in bid denial. The government reserves the right to postpone operations if wind speeds exceed 10 miles per hour, and all questions must be submitted in writing through the solicitation's Q&A board to maintain transparency and fairness in the bidding process.
