2.3 Proprietary Atelier-Style Glazed Screen

The glazed separation above 2,000mm AFL shall be a proprietary atelier-style steel-framed glazing system, fabricated and supplied by a specialist manufacturer. This system is selected to preserve natural light transmission between the kitchen and the adjacent open-plan office space, while providing a defined visual separation in an industrial and elegant aesthetic.

Structural Strategy — Self-Supporting Frame:

➢ The structural ceiling height is 3,500mm AFL. The existing suspended ceiling at 2,700mm

AFL shall remain intact.

➢ Vertical steel uprights shall act as vertical cantilevers from the base plate fixed to the top of the retained partition, laterally stabilized by corner posts bolted into the side walls on each side of the opening. Where required, a stiffener/raidisseur shall be incorporated into the frame design.

➢ The structural steel columns specified in Section 2.2 shall be coordinated with the glazed screen frame design to ensure a unified structural system. The contractor shall confirm the interface between the column heads, the coffee bar shelf, and the glazed screen base plate in the shop drawings submitted for COR approval.

➢ If the geometry of the opening does not allow sufficient lateral bracing from the side walls, the contractor shall propose a horizontal steel distribution beam at the top of the frame, spanning from side wall to side wall, subject to approval prior to fabrication.

➢ The contractor shall verify the upright sections and base fixing capacity. Structural calculations shall be submitted to the COR for approval prior to fabrication.

14 | P a g e 1 4
