About this file
This document is a detailed specification from the State of Illinois Department of Transportation's Bureau of Business Services for a trailer-mounted articulating aerial device with a 49-foot reach platform. The specification covers the procurement of an aerial lift intended for transportation department personnel to use in aerial inspections and work, with a preference for manufacturers like Nifty Lift TM50 or Genie TZ-50. The aerial device must provide a minimum platform height of 49 feet, a working height of 55 feet, 355-degree rotation capability, and a 400-pound platform capacity with self-leveling features.
The specification provides comprehensive technical requirements for the aerial lift, including power sources (electric, fueled, or hybrid), hydraulic system specifications, chassis details, and specific District 3 configuration options. The procurement includes a one-year manufacturer's warranty covering defective parts and workmanship, with requirements for safety compliance with federal, state, ANSI, NEMA, and OSHA standards. Bidders are required to submit specification acknowledgment, descriptive literature, and will be expected to provide operational instruction upon delivery. The document emphasizes that deviations from specifications to achieve lower pricing will not be acceptable, and the state reserves the right to request demonstrations of the unit prior to final acceptance.
