Attachment D-1 – Scope of Work

Scope of Work

1.0 Purpose

This statement of work describes the requirements for the lab renovation in room 26-B114.

2.0 Background

The existing lab is used as a general lab, but need to be renovated to facilitate sample preparation. The researchers at this time use the sample preparation lab room A350 of building 26. Lab A350 is referenced on the drawings with the purpose to set the standard to which new work shall be produced. Contractor shall furnish and install equipment and perform work to this standard.

The existing lab shall be renovated using the existing current sample preparation lab A350 as an example. Lab referenced is standard to which new work shall be sinks, sprayers and other equipment indicated as acceptable for use in the renovated lab, with proposal.

3.0 Work Included. The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials and equipment for a turnkey installation of the newly renovated lab. The Contractor shall provide shop drawings for the proposed installation for review prior to installation. See attached A101, A102 and A103 for further information.

3.1 Architectural:

3.1.1 Contractor shall measure and verify actual dimensions.

3.1.2 Remove and demolish cabinetry, cabinetry supports, sinks, gases, electrical infrastructure, flooring elements and other existing elements to facilitate renovation.

3.1.3 Floor space to be used for freeze dryer shall be leveled existing vinyl base shall be sealed to concrete floor watertight.

3.1.4 Provide and install double sink with disposal (1 ), faucets (2 ) & sprayer

(2) where existing single sinks is currently located, as illustrated on drawings.

3.1.5 Provide and install stainless steel countertops at new working areas.

Countertops near sinks shall have lip and backsplash. Island countertop shall have lip and power for lab equipment on utility drops.

3.1.6 Remove cabinetry underneath sinks, level flooring and seal existing flooring to the concrete floor. Sinks shall be provided with new floor mounted disposal.

North sink shall be ins ta l l ed with counter mounted eye wash.

3.1.7 Contractor shall repair and patch damage to existing lab walls, metal chases or any other portion of the lab damaged by work.

3.1.8 Repaint interior of lab.

3.1.9 All countertops, sinks, faucets, disposals and paint samples shall be submitted for approval by Owner before any equipment is ordered.

3.2 Mechanical:

3.2.1 Remove gases in areas to be used for new workspaces. Cap and valve in wall, or above ceiling.

3.2.2 Island sink is to be removed. Water and drain systems shall be capped under counter.

3.2.3 Contractor shall provide new sanitary and domestic service for new sinks, with cleanouts.

3.2.4 All Sinks and Faucets shall be submitted for approval by Owner before any equipment is ordered.

3.3 Electrical:

3.3.1 Panel serving lab is in corridor, just outside the lab, labeled “Panel LRP1-2B”.

3.3.2 Contractor shall verify electrical infrastructure needed for work and submit as built drawings to the Contracting Officer’s Representative.

3.3.3 Existing south (smaller) electrical raceway to remain. Four 120 outlets to be added to counter side of raceway to be used as convenience outlets. Existing north (larger) electrical raceways and outlets to be demolished shall be removed back to panel and replaced with spare. Provide new outlets for new freezers and freeze dryers in newly renovated lab. New outlets shall be on dedicated circuit, properly labeled at panel.

3.3.4 Island shall be installed with three duplex outlets on each utility drop (total 2).

Outlets shall be on dedicated circuit.

3.3.5 Panel LRP1-2B shall be relabeled to indicate all new circuits.

3.3.6 Provide disconnecting means for mechanical equipment, specifically disposals, per NEC.

3.3.7 All new outlets shall be GFCI protected.

3.3.8 All electrical equipment shall be submitted for approval by Owner before any equipment is ordered.
