IV. EXTENT OF WORK – Part 15 Building 34, Gymnasium Delete Section c) Electrical in its entirety.
IV. EXTENT OF WORK – Part 11 Building 21, Vacant Delete Part 11 in its entirety - Note: This building will be demolished instead, see Section IV – 2 below
IV. EXTENT OF WORK
Add the following to Section IV. EXTENT OF WORK of the Scope of Work:
1. Structure 8 - CTST Storage:
a) Structure 8, constructed in 1968, is an open concrete masonry unit (CMU) structure with a stucco finish with a wood framed, corrugated metal canopy. The total gross square footage (GSF) is approximately 900 GSF. The structure has incurred extensive damage and requires demolition.
b) The Contractor shall demolish the building, in its entirety, to the concrete slab. The concrete slab is to remain in place. The metal gate located on the north side of the building should be removed and disposed of. The Contractor shall take care during the demolition to avoid damage to the adjacent building No. 9. All demolition debris shall be removed and disposed of off-site in accordance with all applicable codes and laws. All utilities are to be cut and caped.
c) There is no known Asbestos-Containing Material (ACM) located in Structure 8. However, should the Contractor become aware of the existence of ACM, the Contractor shall notify the DOL Contracting Officer (CO) in writing, and request direction from the Contracting Officer prior to proceeding with work.
d) The work associated with the demolition of Structure 8 will disturb painted walls and other building components which may contain lead. The Contractor will comply with the OSHA Lead Standard for Construction Industry (29 CFR 1926.62), and other environmental or occupational safety and health regulations as applicable. 2. Building 21, Vacant
a) Building 21, constructed in 1989, is a single story building totaling approximately 3,100 gross square feet. The building construction comprises of a concrete foundation and slab, structural steel framing and metal roof. Exterior walls are concrete masonry units (CMU) with a plaster finish. Electrical service is provided by three 37.5kVA pole-mounted transformers through an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) located adjacent to Building 22 and fed underground to a wall-mounted 200A fused service disconnect switch, located on the buildings northwest exterior wall. All fire alarm system devices are connected to the main fire alarm control panel located in Building 11.
b) The Contractor shall hire an independent utility location service to identify the location of all existing utilities within the limits of work prior to commencement of all excavation or demolition operations. Excavation and other methods to locate buried underground utilities are not part of this scope. Utility location should be accomplished by employing electromagnetic induction technology in conjunction with ground penetrating radar.
Manholes, valve boxes, inlets, and other such structures must be accessed and connecting pipes field surveyed.
c) The Contractor shall demolish the building in its entirety, inclusive of foundations, exterior CMU retaining walls, and concrete walkways and ramps. Concrete walkways and ramps shall be removed to the main pedestrian walkway located on the interior of the campus.
The Contractor shall take all precautions to protect neighboring buildings and equipment from damage during demolition activities. The cost to repair such damages to its original condition is the responsibility of the Contractor.
There is no known Asbestos-Containing Material (ACM) or lead-based paint located in Building 21. However, should the Contractor become aware of the existence of ACM or lead-based paint, the Contractor shall notify the Contracting Officer in writing and request direction from the Contracting Officer prior to proceeding with work.
Prior to demolition of the building the Contractor shall capture all refrigerants and dispose of in accordance with EPA guidelines and all local codes and regulations.
The Contractor shall disconnect and remove all utilities to the utility source or connection point as described below:
• All underground conduit and piping within the confines of the building foot print shall be removed.
• The electrical service conductors from the 200A fuse main disconnect of this building shall be removed back to ATS located at Building 22. Conduit shall be removed to a depth of one foot below grade and capped. Reference Buildings 21 and 22 Electrical Service Diagram below.
• Water lines shall be removed to within 10 feet of the building line and properly terminated and capped.
• Sanitary Sewer lines shall be removed to the nearest structure and the structure patched in accordance with local codes, regulations and utility requirements.
The Contractor shall disconnect and terminate the Building 21 fire alarm device cabling at the main fire alarm control panel in Building 11. Building 21 fire alarm conduit shall be removed to a depth of one foot below grade and capped.
All demolition debris shall be removed and disposed of off-site in accordance with all applicable codes and laws.
d) The Contractor shall backfill all foundation removal areas, utility removal excavations, and all other excavations. All fill soil shall be clean soil and shall be compacted to 90% in accordance with ASTM D698 requirements prior to seeding. The Contractor shall grade the demolition site to ensure positive drainage. The Contractor shall install grass seed in the footprint of the demolition sites and all areas affected/distributed by the demolition of the buildings. The Contractor is responsible for maintaining and watering until the grass has established growth. The site will not be accepted as a subgrade prepared site prepared for future construction.
Stockpiling of topsoil and required fill is permitted but the location must be approved by the Center. The Contractor must provide erosion and sediment controls throughout the project. All excess soil shall be removed from the site. Surplus soils shall not be stockpiled on the site.

Overhead electrical service is provided from three 37.5 kVA pole-mounted transformers and a 130 kW diesel generator, located in Building 30, to an exterior wall-mounted ATS which feeds to a 200A fused disconnect switch located on the building southwest exterior wall. Generator feeds to Building 22 are run underground. The ATS also serve Building 21 as noted above.
Service conduit on pole shall be removed to a depth of one foot below grade and capped.
Generator service conductors shall be disconnected at the Generator panel and properly terminated. Panel breakers shall be locked out and tagged out in accordance with OSHA requirements. Underground conduit serving the ATS and fused main disconnect shall be removed in their entirety with the exception of the generator service conduit. Generator service conduit at the ATS shall be removed to a depth of one foot and capped.
