About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document clarifying specifications for a commercial truck procurement.

The Government requires a brand new, unused truck with a net cargo capacity of 50,000 lbs (not Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). The vehicle specifications include a 44-inch sleeper, a cargo box of 26 to 30 feet in length, and piano-style passenger compartment door hinges for the Peterbilt cab or equivalent current door hinge method. The warranty requirement is 5 years/300,000 miles or factory warranty, whichever is longer. The Statement of Work and RFQ were amended to clarify the brand-new vehicle requirement. The Government indicated willingness to facilitate an in-person meeting to view the current model box truck being used as a baseline for this procurement.

Question Answer

Confirm whether the Government is requiring a brand new (unused) vehicle, or if equivalent vehicles (e.g., new surplus, demonstrator units, or low-mileage alternatives) would be considered acceptable, provided all technical specifications and performance requirements are met?

It is required to be a brand new (unused) truck. SOW and RFQ were amended to reflect this requirement.

Is there a way to come see the current model box truck you are trying to mirror?

A meeting can be set up if needed.

When the SOW references a 50,000-lb. load capacity, is this a GVW of 50,000 lbs., or is this a net cargo capacity of 50,000 lbs.?

That is referring to a net cargo capacity of 50,000 lbs

The SOW mentions "up to 80-inch sleeper". Is there a preferred size? I have options including 44", 58", 72" , and 80".

44” sleeper would be fine

The SOW mentions "up to 30' Morgan cargo box". Do you have a preferred size? 26' is a very common length.

26’ would be fine, up to a 30’ would be great.

For the "piano-style passenger compartment door hinges", which door is meant to have this style of hinge? Peterbilt does not offer this for their cab doors. Is that for the Morgan box side door?

This is for the Peterbilt cab, or whatever the current method is used for door hinges

The SOW mentions a 5-year warranty. How many miles would you like the term to be good through? For example: 5yr/300k miles.

5yr/300k miles or factory warranty.
