FCI TAFT – BUILDING DEMOLITION

PROJECT 23Z7AA9 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

SOLICITATION 15BFA024B00000002

SUBMITTED BY AHTNA GOVERNMENT SERVICES CORPORATION:

88. Is it possible to receive clarification on question 1 - In answering question 6 it was stated “No backfill on the floor slabs is required”. If the floor slab is below existing grade and no backfill is required, How are we to deal with the potential pooling and drainage left by the elevation differences?

CLARIFICATION: BUILDING L (SPECIAL HOUSING UNIT) IS THE ASSUMED BUILDING OF

CONCERN. THE LOWER LEVELS ARE ABOVE GRADE AT THE END OF THE RANGES. NO

BACKFILL IS REQUIRED BECAUSE THERE ARE NO AREAS IDENTIFIED AS BELOW GRADE.

SUBMITTED BY RESOURCE ENVIRONMENTAL, INC.:

89. Due to the critical nature of this inquiry, I kindly ask for your consideration in providing a timely response.

We are seeking clarification regarding the construction of the concrete wall depicted in drawing D3.1. The wall is shown to have an overall thickness of 11 inches, encompassing a 2-inch insulation layer placed between concrete layers of 6 inches and 3 inches respectively.

Our primary concern is understanding the method of application for this insulation layer. We need to ascertain whether the insulation was affixed using an adhesive or was simply inserted between the concrete layers. This detail is crucial as it significantly affects our approach towards the removal and disposal of the materials, and has substantial implications for labor, processing, and associated costs.

Given the time-sensitive nature of this project, if the Bureau of Prisons does not have immediate access to this specific information, we respectfully request that guidance be provided to all bidders to assume a standard method for the insulation application. This would ensure a uniform basis for all proposals, enabling a fair and equitable bidding process.

CLARIFICATION: SEE ARCHITECTURAL RECORD DRAWINGS. CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME

INSULATION IS RIGID POLYSTYRENE SANDWICH PANELS INSTALLED IN CONCRETE WITH

CONNECTING RODS 16-INCHES ON CENTER.

SUBMITTED BY OCS CONSTRUCTION SERVICES, INC.:

90. Per Addendum 1 On sheet D3.1, Detail B. It references Sheet S001 but this sheet does not exist in the drawings. The wall per drawing D3.1 shows it to be 11” concrete. There is 2” insulation sandwiched between 6”s and 3”s of concrete.

We need to know how that was applied.

CLARIFICATION: S001 IS LOCATED ON PAGE 86 OF ATTACHMENT LINK TITLED RECORD

AS-BUILT DRAWING.
