MCC SAN DIEGO – UPGRADE FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM

PROJECT 23Z6AK2 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

SUBMITTED BY AMERICAN ALARM CO.:

11. The drawings show 14 Detention Hollow Metal Doors being replaced. The Hardware Schedule lists the material included in Group 1 and Group 2, but not in Group 3 or Group 4. Please provide the Hardware Schedule for Groups 3 and 4.

CHANGE: There are no Group 3 and 4. The hardware schedule changes to Group 1 or

2. The door schedule revised.

12. The drawings show 14 Detention Hollow Metal Doors being replaced. The Door Schedule lists the doors and the associated Hardware Group. Details 1, 2, and 3 on Drawing A4.2 show a door which is to be replaced, but there is no door number shown on the drawing. Please provide the door number for the door and the associated details per the Door Schedule.

CHANGE: The door number added to the details and door schedule. See revised sheet A4.2.

13. The Drawing shows Door 516 being removed and replaced. The Door Schedule does not show this door. Please clarify.

CHANGE: The door information for new door added to the door schedule with same door number. See revised door schedule at A4.2.

14. The Door Hardware for Groups 1 and 2 includes a Folger Adam 76-4BL lock.

This lock has a mortise strike with a switch. This switch is typically monitored by the Security Door Control System to annunciate door open condition. Please clarify whether connection of this switch to the existing PLC/ Touchscreen control system is included in the scope of work. If this the switch is to be monitored please clarify whether necessary upgrades and/or changes to the existing PLC/Touchscreen programming are part of this scope of work.

Clarification: monitoring the position of the switch by the existing PLC/touchscreen system is not part of this project.

15. Drawing Reference: A4.2 - NORTH STAIR (STAIR #1) ENLARGED PLAN, KEYNOTES, DOOR AND HARDWARE SCHEDULE Specification Reference: 08 98 12 Detention Doors and Frames, 08 98 14 Detention Door Hardware. Question: Doors 518, 597, & 598 on the Door Schedule have hardware groups “3” and “4” called out. There are no hardware groups 3 and 4 described anywhere within the Drawings or Specifications.

Please clarify what hardware groups these doors are to receive

CHANGE: There are no Group 3 and 4. The hardware schedule changes to Group 1 or

16. Drawing Reference: All FA Sheets. Keynote References: DEMOLITION KEYNOTE 3, NEW WORK KEYNOTE 2. Question: Flow switches, tamper switches, and modules are all called out as both to be demo’d and to be replaced. It’s understandable for the modules to be demo’d and replaced, but is it intentional that the flow and tamper switches are to be demo’d and replaced as well?

Clarification: Yes, it is in scope to replace flow switches, tamper switches, and modules.

17. Reference: Delegated Design and Shop Drawings Submittal Scope of Work.

Question: A rational analysis is needed for a complete smoke control design. Is there a smoke control rational analysis that can be provided?

Clarification: Yes, rational analysis is required for the scope related to smoke control system. The Awarded Contractor will be provided the Engineer of Record’s rational analysis as a reference to perform the contractor’s fire protection engineer smoke control design.
