FCC VICTORVILLE – REPAIR BOILER REFRACTORY

PROJECT 6D7A QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

SOLICITATION 15B61620B00000001

SUBMITTED BY F.M THOMAS AIR CONDITIONING:

1) Can you confirm whether or not the bricks in the refractory were treated with asbestos? If so, is there a preferred vendor for abatement?

CLARIFICATION: Per Manufacture there was zero asbestos used in the production of refractory. No abatement is required.

2) We had a discussion with the manufacturer today. They are not recommending the mesh burners due to a compatibility issue with the oil. It would take replacing the entire head to complete this. We can use an alternate system to achieve the same PPM result with using the existing burner technology. Can you confirm if you are open to a design modification, so long as we meet the NOx emissions requirements?

CLARIFICATION: Per Scope of Work entire burner assembly needs to be replaced.

This will require separate head for oil.

SUBMITTED BY PORTER BOILER SERVICE, INC:

3) The Base Bid scope of work calls for refractory repair on the boiler side walls, back walls, and floors. Are there pictures available of the existing condition of the refractory for the boiler side walls, back walls, and floors?

What is the extent of the repair for these sections of refractory?

CLARIFICATION: Please see attached photos.

SUBMITTED AT SITE VISIT:

4) Vendor requested a Wide angle picture to be taken of Header Front Pipe of the FCI #2 Boiler.

CLARIFICATION: Please see attached photos

5) Vendor requested a Wide angle picture to be taken of Header Front Pipe of the USP Boiler.
