15B50918Q00000020 – Replace Fire Alarm – Questions from Contractors.
1. Please confirm the fire alarm equipment to be removed will be turned over to the owner YES
2. Will the government provide a minimum of two escorts daily? Minimum one escort a day, two escorts can be scheduled as needed.
3. Will the government provide a “scaled” drawing that shows the tunnels and building for fiber conduit routing? i.e. a site plan that shows the building with the tunnels There will be no need to show fiber or conduit routing; if desired the government will provide the drawings.
4. Will the government confirm if conduit is existing from building 12 to building 1 that can be used for the fiber? Yes
5. Will the government provide a drawing (scaled) that would show the suggested conduit routing path from the warehouse to the power house? Will the government also confirm the distance between the two buildings? New conduit routing should not be required, distance is approximately 855’.
6. Will the government provide a location for contractor material storage/jobsite boxes? Yes, job site storage will be next to the warehouse.
7. Will the government provide fire watch during the time that the fire alarm system is being replaced? Yes, fire watch will be conducted by custody and safety departments.
8. Would the government consider removing all of the old wire and replacing with new wire for a completely new system that the contractor can warranty? The specifications were not clear on this point and we would like clarification since the existing wire would not be covered by any warranty. No
9. Will the government confirm that an NCIC is the only background checks that will be required for this project? Yes, the NCIC is the only background check required for this project.
10. Will the government clarify the type of network cabling to be used (fiber or copper)? The specifications allow for both to be used. Fiber
11. Will the government confirm this project only requires device replacement, which would not require any device relocation to meet spacing or height requirements? Yes
12. Will the government confirm that the only new network connections will be required at the fire panels shown in the solicitation documents? Yes
13. Will the government furnish ceiling tiles for any tiles damaged during the device replacement?
Yes
14. Will the government confirm that all fire alarm devices to be replaced are shown on the solicitation drawings? Yes
15. Will the government Issue a modification for any devices that are found to not be shown on the solicitation drawings including labor and materials? Yes
16. Will the government confirm that all buildings except for the warehouse currently have conduits to the tunnel that can be used for network cabling? Yes
17. Will the government provide the buildings that will require core drilling for the network connections? During the site visit we were informed that most vertical chases were existing but, were not provided specific information. Yes
18. Will the government confirm that new fire alarm panels can be surface mounted? Can panels be surface mounted in locations where existing panels are recessed? Yes
***It is the intent of the government to replace only the devices and fixtures per the statement of work;
***It is not the intent of the government to upgrade the existing fire panel system from a Class B system to a Class A system.
