From Enviro-Tech Systems:

1. “The system shall be installed like for like and the facility has the materials.” How does the Fire

Protection contractor request additional materials if needed?

ANS: As discussed at the site visit, upon award of the contract, the contractor should inventory the materials already on site for the project. Prior to mobilization, Contractor should provide a written list of materials (preferably emailed to the Facility Manager) needed to complete the project. These materials should list specific items with sufficient information to be ordered by the FBOP (such as type of material, manufacturer’s part number, quantities, lengths, etc.). The period of performance will not begin until these materials arrive on site.

2. We were unable to locate the required NEW Fire Sprinkler heads for installation. These will need to be purchased. There is a head count in the DoR. 12” Dry Pendent heads are the most common.

ANS: No question is being asked above. FBOP will procure the needed dry pendent heads.

3. The Description of Requirements states; Contractor shall install approximately one-hundred ninety-four (194) 12”, 155°F QR dry pendent type sprinkler heads with 401 bell style, escutcheon rings in the freezers and coolers. The current NFPA standard requires Dry Pendent heads in freezers/coolers to be intermediate temperature heads. Intermediate temperature heads shall be less than 175°F (79°C) and not more than 225°F (107°C).

ANS: If the current code requires the intermediate temperature heads, the FBOP will procure that type of head to be installed by the contractor.

4. Can we get a scanned copy of the existing Fire Sprinkler system plan? f a plan is unavailable, what is the square footage and height of warehouse?

ANS: Existing fire plan for the building was provided and uploaded to the solicitation along with pictures from the site visit. Dimensions of the building are provided on the drawing.

5. The Description of Requirements states; Contractor shall create taps for approximately seventy

(70) new heads. What area is this for and how will Fire Protection contractor know what pipe size to use to install these NEW heads?

ANS: The requirement to create taps for approximately 70 new heads should be ignored and not included with anyone’s bid. That work was already completed under a previous project and was erroneously left in this scope of work.

6. The Description of Requirements states; working “off shift” hours. Can we have an employee(s) fabricate materials during the day and employee(s) install fabricated material at night?

ANS: Working multiple shifts is possible; however, contractor should not expect to work on

Saturdays, Sundays, nor Federal holidays.

7. Can we use facility toilets while on property?

ANS: No. Contractor should plan on providing a portable toilet to be used by their personnel.

8. The Description of Requirements states; Contractor shall ensure the new sprinkler system communicates with the designated fire suppression control panel to notify the attendant of activation. There is no work required at system risers.

ANS: There is no question asked in #8; therefore, we cannot provide an answer.
